SUMMARY:PE Co-Op
DESCRIPTION:ACHEV activities\, events\, and field trips are for ACHEV students unless otherwise noted. \nWhat: \nElementary PE Co-Op (@ ages 5-12): \nWe are gathering together to teach our children to work as a team\, develop strength\, perseverance\, good sportsmanship and friendships through physical activity. We start with a warm up exercise routine that will help the children build strength and balance.  It is really fun to see how much they improve over the school year.  After the warm up\, we do structured activities for about 45 minutes.  Afterwards we have optional free play. \nSome examples of things we have done in the past: Relay races\, obstacle courses\, “Toxic River”\, “Barbarians”\, “Steal the Bacon”\, crab soccer\, jump rope\, and four-square.  We have also spent time playing games and doing drills to work on specific skills such as improving reaction time\, learning how to pass a volleyball\, hand-eye coordination\, etc. \nThis is not a drop off class.  Parents take turns leading activities and help supervise and assist their children as needed. \nLittles PE Co-Op (@ ages 2-5): \nNicole Reyes is leading this group.  Age appropriate PE games for the little ones will be taking place at the same time as the Elementary PE Co-Op.  This is not a drop off class.  Parents will be supervising and assisting their children as needed. You are welcome to bring your infants with you. \nWho: ACHEV members 2- 12 years.   Infants are welcome to tag along.  We  have room for more families to join us in both groups\, so please consider joining us. \nThis co-op aims to be a commitment for the school year as opposed to a “drop-in” program.  If you’re curious\, but would like to try it out first\, please feel free to come for a couple sessions and see if it’s something you can commit to for the rest of the year.  We also invite students to join the group at any time in the year.   \nThe dates for the whole school year are printed below and all dates are also on the ACHEV calendar\, all are on Friday mornings.  We will meet at Pitts Ranch Park  (Camarillo).   Please email or text Bonnie Adair 805-504-6457 bonnieadair@verizon.net if you are interested in joining us.   We need to know how many children will be present in order to help with activity planning.  Feel free to reach out with any questions. \nSept 18 \nOctober 2\, 16\, 30 \nNovember 13 \nDecember 4\, 11 \nJanuary 15\, 29 \nFebruary 12\, 26 \nMarch 12\, 19 \nApril 2\, 16 \nMay 7\, 21 \n \n print

SUMMARY:Moxi Museum Field Trip
DESCRIPTION:ACHEV activities\, events\, and field trips are for ACHEV students unless otherwise noted. \nPlease join us for a fun field trip to the Moxi Museum in Santa Barbara.  This is a fun interactive science museum.  This is a self guided tour.  We have freedom to explore the museum in small groups.  It is a fun place to play and learn! \nWhen: Monday November 2\, 2026 \nTime: 10am (please arrive 15 minutes early to check in) \nWho:  ACHEV members\, all ages \nPricing: \n\nStudent Admission (ages 2+): $10\nInfants Under age 2 are free\nOptional Lab: Additional $10 – I need to know ASAP if anyone and what grade levels are interested in this option.  We need a minimum number of 10 students in a close grade range (pk-2\, 3rd-5th\, 6th-8th) to be able to add this on and I need to know before 10/19.  Labs are 50 minutes.  They limit the number adults permitted in the lab.  See lab choices here.\nChaperones: Free up to a 1:5 ratio (the first parents to sign up will have priority.  All other parents will need to pay $18)\nAdditional Chaperones: $18  (this is the group rate discount for adults\, general admission is $25)\n\nRSVP:  Sign up on the google doc by 10/18/26.  **I have already paid a deposit for this field trip and we need a minimum of 10 students in order to make it happen.  If I don’t see at least 10 students on the sign up sheet by 10/1/26\, I will need to consider canceling to get my deposit back.\nHere are some field trip guidelines for your upcoming trip: \nAll our exhibits are hands-on and interactive because MOXI is a place for exploration and discovery! Because of this\, our field trips are self-guided with floor staff “MOXI Sparks” available to assist. \nField trips typically spend about 90 minutes in the museum and have access to the entire museum. They may require us to split up into three groups. \nFood and Drink: Please have your students leave their backpacks and water bottles in the car. We do not have any area within the museum for field trips to eat lunch. Most of our field trips that bring lunches\, eat at the grassy area right next to MOXI or walk down to the sitting wall at the beach. \nParking:  Most visitors park in the train station parking lot (right next to MOXI). The first 75 minutes are free and every additional hour is $3.00. There is limited free street parking nearby. Additional parking can be found in any of the nearby Santa Barbara city lots. \nAddress:   125 State Street\, Santa Barbara\, CA 93101 \nMuseum Phone: 805.770.5000 \nWeb: moxi.org   |   @MOXIsb \n \n print

SUMMARY:TO Arts - La Maleta de Maebelle
DESCRIPTION:What: A bilingual adaptation of a celebrated & beloved picture book. Join Maebelle in her treehouse as she befriends Binkle\, a bird with a migration dilemma – he’s trying to carry too much stuff! When Maebelle generously offers her cherished suitcase from her own migration from Colombia\, she delves into profound reflections on the significance of our possessions and memories. Through laughter and tears\, they discover the beauty of remembrance and the liberating power of letting go.  Don’t miss this enchanting tale celebrating friendship\, cultural heritage\, and the universal lessons found within the stories of our lives. Featuring a two-person cast\, various styles of puppetry\, environmental themes\, & Colombian music. \nWho: ACHEV Students.  They recommend K-6th grade but pk-12th grade permitted at parental discretion. One parent chaperone per family please\, unless there are special needs.   Do not bring any children younger than age 3. \n\n\n\nCost: Free!!  They appreciate donations. https://toarts.org/programs/kids-and-the-arts/ \nThere are a lot of important details to be aware of:\n\nI (Bonnie) have signed the below statement on behalf of all attendees.  If you are not comfortable agreeing with this\, you should not attend this field trip.\n\n“By attending this field trip\, you are giving permission to TOArts to take group and possibly up-close pictures of students to use for donor relations and marketing. You additionally take responsibility to ensure that the parents of students attending are aware that their kids may be photographed. We understand that some families choose not to have their kids photographed. We have no control over excluding such children.”\n\n\nSHOW INFORMATION\n\n\n\nThe performance starts at 12pm on January 27\, 2027\nPlease plan to arrive an hour before showtime and be patient if you have to wait in line or on the bus for a little while as there will be a large number of schools attending this performance.\nThe length of the performance is 65 minutes.\n\n\n\n\nWHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU ARRIVE\n\nEveryone will be going through security\, including students.\nNo outside food or drink. (small plastic water bottles for students who absolutely need it are acceptable)\nMetal water bottles will absolutely not be allowed.\nNo oversized backpacks unless required for students needing ADA support (let us know in advance if needing a backpack).\nWe cannot entertain requests for specific seats. We make every effort to ensure classes are seated together. Students may relocate within their assigned block of seats. Wheelchairs and other needs are taken into consideration.\n(Note From Bonnie) – weapons/knives are also not allowed.  They didn’t mention that in the school field trip email\, I presume because that is already a rule at every brick and mortar school\, but some of our homeschooled kids carry around pocket knives and things like that and we don’t really give it a second thought.  Make sure you and your kids leave all those sorts of things in the car.  Only bring what you need.  You can also look at their rules here (though some things may not apply in our situation) https://bapacthousandoaks.com/patron-safety\n\n\nTHEATRE ETIQUETTE\n\nFor your convenience and to prepare the students for a fantastic experience\, we have put together a Theatre Etiquette Flyer  which you can find attached\, we request you review with your classrooms a few times before the show to ensure a pleasant experience for all students.\nWe understand that it is hard for kids to sit still for an hour. However\, we request that you speak to your students in advance about the importance of sitting as still and as quietly as possible to respect the performers. We ask that you remove any disruptive student(s) from the theatre. We have a cry room\, which can be used for their comfort and yours so that they can watch the show without being a distraction. One of our ambassadors can help direct you to this room if needed.\n\n\nOur kids are our next generation of theatergoers\, patrons\, and artists. We appreciate you making the commitment to the arts in your classroom!\nAFTER THE SHOW\n\nDue to the urgency to clear the parking lot and buses in a timely manner following the performance\, we are unable to accommodate requests for students to stay and enjoy a sack lunch on our property. If you wish to enjoy lunch at a nearby park\, a map and directions to local neighborhood parks where you might be able to enjoy lunch can be found here.\n\n\n\nSigning Up for This Field Trip:\n\n\nSign Up on the Google Doc\, deadline December 13\, 2026\n\nWe have reserved 32 seats.  If it is full\, please sign up on the waitlist.  There is always a good chance that someone will need to cancel\, or someone will turn up ill\, and we do not want to have any empty seats.\nIf anyone has special needs (wheelchair access\, mobility\, sensory or any other needs) we need to know about it by April 30th or sooner if possible.  You can contact Bonnie personally (805-504-6457\, bonnieadair@verizon.net) if you have special needs\, and I will inform the coordinator at the Arts Center.\n\n  \n\n print

DESCRIPTION:What: We are gathering together to teach our children to work as a team\, develop strength\, perseverance\, good sportsmanship and friendships through physical activity. \nParents take turns organizing/planning/leading the activities.  If you don’t feel equipped to take that on\, you will not be alone\, I will help you through it.  I can send you ideas and instructions and come alongside you as you lead the activity.  This is not a drop off class.  Parents will be supervising and assisting their children as needed. \nWho: ACHEV members Pk-12 years.   This co-op can include all ages.  We currently have a group of elementary students formed and we have room for lots more\, so please consider joining us.  We also have a small group of preschoolers and we are planning special activities for a separate preschool group at the same time.  If you have high school students\, we can absolutely coordinate something structured for them.  It could be a fitness class\, a sport\, field games\, or maybe even a running group – it’s a big park with not too much traffic and good sidewalks. \nSept 18 \nOctober 2\, 16\, 30 \nNovember 13 \nDecember 4\, 11 \nJanuary 15\, 29 \nFebruary 12\, 26 \nMarch 12\, 19 \nApril 2\, 16 \nMay 7\, 21\n print
