This is going to be a hugely popular and influential exhibition!  \nAdmission is typically $21 for kids 6 yrs+\, and $30 for adults\, but this tour is going to be FREE for many of us (see below).  \n  \nWhat: A 45-minute docent-led tour. Students will explore how these once-radical Impressionist artists reshaped modern art through guided discussions and close looking. \nWho: ACHEV members ages 7 yrs through high school. Parent chaperones are required (one chaperone per five students). Parent chaperones must be willing to enforce the museum’s etiquette standards with the students in their tour group (see below). \n\nThe total number of required parent chaperones is subject to the number of students signed up.\nDue to high interest in this event\, we are currently limiting sign ups to one parent chaperone per family.\nEven if you sign up as a parent chaperone\, your ability to participate ultimately depends on our student numbers. More students = more parent chaperones.\nIf you would like a second parent to chaperone\, please add them to the WAITLIST. Allyson will let you know if there is space to participate.\n\n  \nCost: Free admission for up to 30 students. A maximum of six parent chaperones (free admission) will be required if all 30 students attend. An additional six parents may also attend the tour at regular admission ($30 per adult). \nWhen: Tuesday January 6th \n\n10:15a Gather at the Park Entrance of the Museum\, in the rear of the building.\n10:30a-11:15a Docent-led tour of the special exhibits.\n11:15a After the tour\, families are free to explore the collections on their own (parents will be responsible for supervising their own students).\n\nWhere: Santa Barbara Museum of Art: 1130 State Street\, Santa Barbara\, CA\, 93101. Paid parking is available throughout downtown Santa Barbara; please be prepared to leave enough time to pay and walk to the museum. \n  \nMuseum Etiquette\nPlease review this information with your students before you arrive. We desire to be a blessing to the museum staff! \n\nLarge bags and reusable water bottles are NOT permitted in the galleries. (I would avoid backpacks too)\nFood\, drinks (including water bottles)\, and gum are prohibited in the galleries.\nOnly pencils may be used in the galleries; the use of pens and markers is prohibited.\nCell phones should be turned to silent while in the Museum. \nPhotographs are permitted without flash.\nAll visitors should remain 18 inches from the artworks (i.e.\, more than an arm’s length away)\nDo not lean on walls or artwork when taking notes.\nVisitors should keep their voices low.\nRunning and rough play are prohibited.\nChaperones must stay with their group at all times; students should never be unattended while in the Museum.\nImportant: Teachers and chaperones are responsible for student behavior in the Museum.\n\n  \nContact ACHEV mom\, Allyson Plumberg at allysonplumberg@gmail.com for questions! \n  \nSign up for the Impressionist Art Tour by November 21\n  \n

If you are interested and would like to join the waitlist\, please email Allyson at allysonplumberg@gmail.com\n  \n\n  \nACHEV Mom\, Allyson Plumberg\, is leading monthly Sacred Harp singings at her home in Camarillo. Sacred Harp music is a traditional form of a cappella shape note singing and has roots in the early American church. The music has a distinctively raw style and sound. Check out this brief intro video to Sacred Harp music. \nThis year\, generous donors from the Sacred Harp community gifted Allyson with 16 copies of the new 2025 Sacred Harp book for the purpose of growing Sacred Harp music within her homeschool community! \nNo previous music ability necessary! You are welcome to come try it out if you’re on the fence. \n  \nWhat: 30-45 minutes of basic instruction reading shape notes and singing from the Sacred Harp. Allyson will help break down the parts as needed. We will review songs from previous months\, learn a new song or two each session—and most importantly—enjoy worshiping together! \nOptional: After singing\, we can walk over to the Pleasant Valley Soccer Field park (2 min walk) and let the kids play for a bit afterwards. Looking at about 1.5 hrs total\, including park time. \nWho: ACHEV Members all ages\, moms and dads voices too! We have toys for babies who may not be ready to sing yet. \nWhen: We meet on the 3rd Monday of every month from 9:30a-10:15a. If you join us for the park afterwards\, we will wrap that up around 11:00a. \nWhere: Located near the Camarillo YMCA. Exact address will be provided upon RSVP to Allyson at allysonplumberg@gmail.com \n  \nPlease reach allysonplumberg@gmail.com if you want to learn more. \n  \n
