SUMMARY:Berry Picking Field Trip
DESCRIPTION:Field Trip at One Acre Farm!  One Acre Farm grows delicious organic blueberries and strawberries.  We expect there will be strawberries and blueberries to pick\, but the crops depend on the weather and it’s still a few weeks out.  They planted more strawberries this year and they planted them in the ground and they have been doing very well and are huge and delicious.\n\n\n\n\n\nLearn first hand about…\nGrowing Fruit\nPlanting\nSelling\nSmall Business Farming…We love teaching our future generations and would love to pass our knowledge and encouragement on to them!\n\n\n\nCost: Entrance is free $20 per full bucket of strawberries and blueberries (you can purchase partially filled buckets\, you don’t have to fill it).  They are also selling their blueberry bushes (in containers) at only $20 per container.\n             Pay with cash or card\n\n\nThey provide buckets to pick your berries into\, and they will provide plastic clamshell containers for taking them home.  You may bring your own re-useable containers for packing and taking them home if you like.\n\nWho: All ages.  All ACHEV members.\n\nOne Acre Farm is located on Gerry Ranch on the outskirts of Camarillo right off of Santa Rosa Rd.  I will email everyone more specific details for parking/directions before the field trip.\nSign Up Here

SUMMARY:Father-Daughter Dance
DESCRIPTION:What: Daddies and Daughters\, we are having a special event for you!  Get your special girl (or girls) a corsage and bring her to the Father-Daughter Dance.   There will be a mini-lesson so you will know enough steps to take your girl on the dance floor.  We’ll also do a line dance or two.  We will have light refreshments\, punch\, and water.   \nSign Up for the Dance Here\nWho: All ACHEV Dads and their daughters age 5+\, including graduates.  We also encourage Grandfathers\, Stepfathers\, Uncles and other adult male role models to accompany a young lady.  What if you have more than one daughter?!    You can have another adult male accompany one of your daughters\, or if you are accompanying more than one young lady\, we will rotate partners so that all your girls will get some dance time. \nCost: $25 per pair\, and $5 for a single daughter.  For example; If Dad comes and bring two daughters\, it would be $25+$5=$30 total.  If Dad comes with three daughters\, it would be $35.  If Dad comes with two daughters and Grandpa\, it is $25 per pair/couple so it would be $50.  Pay with cash or check made out to ACHEV when you arrive\, or pay with Zelle to achevmail@gmail.com \nTime: Event will begin at 3:00\, please arrive at 2:45 to check in at the ticket table\, take photos\, and be ready to begin on time. \nDress Code: Dads\, please honor this special time with your daughters by dressing nice and following the dress code.  Daughters must also follow the dress code\, the dress code applies to all ages.  We encourage you to wear semi-formal attire\, but the minimum dress code is below. This is our standard dress code for ACHEV dances. \nFathers: \n\nCollared shirts (button-up or polo)\, long sleeve or short sleeved.\nSlacks\, NO jeans. Do not wear pants that look like jeans.  \nClosed toe shoes.\n\nDaughters: \n\n Skirts or dresses knee length or longer. (This means touching the top of the kneecap\, regardless of leggings.) If there is a lace overlay\, the skirt underneath (solid fabric) needs to touch the kneecap.\nSlits in skirts cannot rise above the top of the kneecap regardless of leggings underneath.  If your skirt/dress just touches the top of the knee and it has a slit in it\, it is too short.  You can stitch up a slit or use safety pins to close it up.\nLeggings or shorts are required if the skirt rises past the knees while twirling.  It’s a good idea to wear shorts or leggings under your skirts regardless of length.\nNo low-cut\, strapless\, backless\, or halter tops. No peekaboo cutouts.  Solid Straps need to be at least one inch wide.  No exposed cleavage\, midriffs or bra straps.  If you aren’t sure\, wear a cardigan over your dress.\nIf your top is sheer or see through\, you need to wear underneath solid straps that are at least one inch wide.\nGirls can wear a t-shirt under their dress or along with a skirt.\nNo pants (other than leggings under your skirt or dress).\nClosed toe shoes are recommended.  No flip flops\, socks\, or bare feet.  If the girls want to wear heels\, please bring a second pair of shoes that will be more comfortable in case they need/want to remove their heels.\n\nPlease view the visual dress code: ACHEV Dress Code for Dances In General \nHelpers: I would like a few people to bring a plate of cookies or cupcakes to share.  I would also love to have a photographer for this special event.  Do you have a relative or friend that would like to donate their time to do this for us?  Or perhaps a mom can come take photos while the dads and girls dance?  For decorations\, we don’t need much and I will just have some basic things set up\, but if there is a mom with a knack for decor and just loves doing that sort of thing\, we’d love to have your help with decorating before the event.  You can sign up to help with photography\, decor\, or bringing a treat on the same sign up sheet here.

SUMMARY:Ballroom Dance Workshop
DESCRIPTION:What: Private ballroom dance classes for ACHEV at House of Dance – Lesson for 1 hr 15 minutes\, dance practice to music for 15 minutes. \nThese classes are one time beginner workshops\, every Wednesday in May and June from 4:00-5:30.  Sign up for one or sign up for all.   \n\n\n\nMay  \n\nJune  \n\n\nMay 7th: Foxtrot\n\nJune 4: East Coast Swing\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMay 14th: Nightclub Two Step\n\nJune 11: Cha Cha\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMay 21: Single Time Swing\n\nJune 18: Rumba\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMay 28: West Coast Swing\n\nJune 25: Samba\n\n\n\nWho: ACHEV members & grads age 11 and up.   We must have equal number boys and girls in order for the class to work.  We can keep a waitlist in case space opens up prior to the first class in a series.  Minimum of 4 boys and 4 girls in order to hold these classes.  Partners rotate throughout the class. \nGuests: Only ACHEV Members can invite guests: guests do not need to be ACHEV members\, but need to be homeschooled.  Please clear invited homeschooling friends through Bonnie at bonnieadair@verizon.net.   ACHEV members & Grads are given priority on the sign up sheet****Guests may be approved only where there is a need to fill spots.  Do not add any guests to the sign up sheet without approval first\, and do not share the sign up sheet outside of ACHEV. \nWhere: House of Dance \, 3007 Bunsen Ave\, Ventura 93003   https://www.pmhouseofdance.com/ \nWhen: Wednesdays 4pm – 5:30 pm \nCost: $15 per student per 90 minute class payable to House of Dance when you arrive for class or pay in advance.  House of Dance will accept cash\, check\, Venmo or Zelle  Venmo@Patricia-Monico     Zelle 805-650-2719   If you pay via Venmo or Zelle\, please include a note “ACHEV Homeschool class”.  Do not send payment to ACHEV or to me (Bonnie) personally. \nWhat to Bring & Wear: Bring your own water bottles.  There is no drinking fountain.  There is no special dress code\, other than ACHEV’s general dress code for all events which is\, “modest and appropriate for the occasion”.   Some girls choose to wear dresses and skirts\, but you can wear pants or shorts.  Boys can wear pants or shorts.  Be comfortable.  If you do not have felt bottomed dance shoes (felt bottomed dance shoes are ideal)\, try to choose a shoe that is not heavy\, grippy or rubbery on bottom.  Leather soled dress shoes or Vans-type skateboard shoes are okay.  Absolutely NO flip flops.  No sandals\, no Uggs.  Boots/cowboy boots/work boots are not good for ballroom or swing dancing and if you step on your partner (it happens) it will hurt a lot if you are wearing a heavy boot\, please don’t wear heavy boots.  You want to be able to slide/glide on the floor\, turn easily on your toes (sometimes on your heels) and point your toes. \nTo purchase good quality dance shoes (recommended but not required)\, go here \nNotes on Attendance:  If you sign up for a class/workshop\, your classmates are counting on you to be there for all the classes other than illness or other unavoidable/unforeseen circumstances\, because these classes are most enjoyable when everyone has a partner.  Please do not no-show. \nQuestions?  Bonnieadair@verizon.net or 805-504-6457 call or text. \nWe must have an even number of boys and girls.  Any girls in excess of boys\, or vice versa\, are considered to be on the waitlist.  We must have a minimum of 4 boys and 4 girls to proceed with the class. \nSign Up Here for May & June Workshops\nQuestions?
