DESCRIPTION:ACHEV Back–to–School Dance\nThis is our first big dance of the school year! Live music provided by The Ramblers. From college kids down through the 6th grade\, you and your parents are invited to attend. There will be plenty of East coast swing\, West coast swing\, lindy hop\, waltz\, tango\, polka and the Virginia Reel to dance to. Whatever your dance experience\, you are invited to attend. These dances are one of the few times we cannot include the whole family as there are no accommodations for children 5th grade and younger.\n \nWho: ACHEV and  CASA students\, 6th grade and up and parents. Please make arrangements to leave younger children at home. Babes in arms OK.\nChaperones: A parent chaperone is required for students under 18. She is probably nervous waiting to be asked. \nOffer her your hand or your arm and escort her onto the dance floor. \nWhen the dance is over\, escort her off the floor and thank her for the dance. \nFor girls: \nIf a boy asks you to dance\, graciously accept his offer. \nIf you stand with your friends in a closed circle\, it is hard for a boy to ask you to dance. Make yourself available by op ening up your circle. \nFor both: \nEvery dance has first time attendees. Make an effort to reach out to them and include them in your conversations. \nNot everyone knows how to dance…that is ok. Everyone has to begin sometime. \nA Sadie Hawkins dance is when a girl can ask a boy to dance.

We will be meeting near the volleyball courts. I will be setting up my blue beach tent. There are showers and restrooms at this beach. This is open to all levels. We’re working on making this as effective as possible in improving the quality and confidence of all dancers who love to swing. Here are the details:\nWhat:An opportunity to learn and practice on how to be more smooth and confident in the style of Swing dance\, and Lindy-Hop if time allows.\nWhere: 178 Furman Avenue\, Ventura 93003 (Susan Pineda’s house) \nWhen:Saturday September 2nd and 9th: Beginners 2:30-5:00. Intermediate/Advanced 5:15-6:30 (previous dance experience required – must already be sure of swing and/or Lindy basics)\nCost:Beginners Workshop: $15 per person\, $10 for siblings.
