SUMMARY:Support Meeting: Get Smart about Chaos and Control
DESCRIPTION:Life can be chaotic. There is no getting around it sometimes\, but there is always hope\, even when life threatens to derail. I would like to tell my story and share what I have learned over the years about staying on track\, and getting back on track more quickly after derailment. We will talk about leaning on God\, taming chaos\, building habits that nurture diligence\, and peace. This is especially important for those home-school years when our children are watching so closely. How can I host this meeting when I am so dreadfully far from perfect? Thank God\, perfection is not what is required. I am getting back on the tracks myself\, so I choose to have this meeting when I need the reinforcement\, too. Ladies only\, please join me Thursday\, 11/9/17\, 7-9pm. I want this meeting to be an intimate\, judgement-free zone for ACHEV moms\, to uplift you and send you home with practical tips and loads of encouragement. There will be time for prayer. Please RSVP so I can have be sure to have seating for you. Questions? Contact Susan Pineda at must_sew@yahoo.com or (805) 407-6851.

SUMMARY:Back to School Dance
DESCRIPTION:ACHEV Back–to–School Dance\nThis is our first big dance of the school year! Live music provided by The Ramblers. From college kids down through the 6th grade\, you and your parents are invited to attend. There will be plenty of East coast swing\, West coast swing\, lindy hop\, waltz\, tango\, polka and the Virginia Reel to dance to. Whatever your dance experience\, you are invited to attend. These dances are one of the few times we cannot include the whole family as there are no accommodations for children 5th grade and younger.\n \nWho: ACHEV and  CASA students\, 6th grade and up and parents. Please make arrangements to leave younger children at home. Babes in arms OK.\nChaperones: A parent chaperone is required for students under 18. If you cannot chaperone your own child\, please make arrangements with another parent.\n \nDate: Saturday\, September 23rd\nTime: 7-11pm\nCost: $10 per student\, $30 family limit\, parent chaperones free\nDress Code: ACHEV dress code applies\, Guidelines are enforced.\nLocation: Poinsettia Pavilion\, 3451 Foothill Rd\, Ventura\nBring: A finger food snack to share\nGuests: Guests may be invited\, but need to be cleared through the host.\nContact:  Bonnie Summers the4summers@sbcglobal.net\nDress Code\nBoys: Collared shirts. Slacks. (no jeans)\nGirls: Skirts or dresses knee length or longer. (This means touching the top of the knee\, regardless of leggings.) If there is a lace overlay\, the skirt underneath (solid fabric) needs to touch the knees.\nLeggings or shorts are required if the skirt rises past the knees while twirling.\nNo low-cut\, strapless\, backless\, or halter tops. Straps need to be at least one inch wide. No exposed cleavage or bra straps.\nNo pants. \nPlease click on link to see the dress code complete with examples.  Visual Dress Code for Back to School Dance \n  \nBasic Dance Etiquette \nFor those of you who have students who have not taken a dance class at the Bozarths\, here is a review of some basic dance etiquette that is taught. \nThank you for sharing this with your young dancers. \nFor boys: \nAsk a variety of girls to dance. They are waiting for you to ask. \nYou may be nervous asking a girl to dance. That is ok. She is probably nervous waiting to be asked. \nOffer her your hand or your arm and escort her onto the dance floor. \nWhen the dance is over\, escort her off the floor and thank her for the dance. \nFor girls: \nIf a boy asks you to dance\, graciously accept his offer. \nIf you stand with your friends in a closed circle\, it is hard for a boy to ask you to dance. Make yourself available by op ening up your circle. \nFor both: \nEvery dance has first time attendees. Make an effort to reach out to them and include them in your conversations. \nNot everyone knows how to dance…that is ok. Everyone has to begin sometime. \nA Sadie Hawkins dance is when a girl can ask a boy to dance.

SUMMARY:Beach Day
DESCRIPTION:Take advantage of our beautiful Southern California weather and our freedom from the public school schedule by hanging out with us at the beach this month! \nLocation: Carpinteria Beach at the end of Linden Ave. It’s best to look for free street parking past “The Spot” burger stand. We will be meeting near the volleyball courts. I will be setting up my blue beach tent. There are showers and restrooms at this beach. The surf is amazing for just about anything and very clean and safe for all ages of children.  Bring your beach goodies\, a volleyball for the sand court and your boogie boards.  Make sure the kids have shoes/water shoes (not flip flops) if they want to play volleyball – the sand gets really hot! \nContact: Bonnie Adair\, 805-504-6457\, bonnieadair@verizon.net
