SUMMARY:Hello Sea Horsie Kids' Mini Camp
DESCRIPTION:What/When: Two days of horse fun\, 4 hours each day!  You may drop off your children 7 and up if you prefer\, but you are also welcome to stay and watch.  If your child is under 7\, you will need to stay. \nDay One Monday 7/30 10am-2pm:  Sand Sled Rides on the beach!  Learn to brush Freddie and put on his tack/harness. Play Soccer in the Sand with Freddie horse. Also\, learn about horse care\, and make a Creative horse craft  with painted horseshoe\, wooden frame and your picture. \nDay Two Tuesday 7/31 10am-2pm:  Learn Daily Care of a Mini Horse. We will go on a Carriage Ride!  You will learn to drive Freddie and the Carriage. Learn about the four types of riding styles. Give Freddie a hair cut (shave his short hair) and give him a bath! Make a tiny horseshow necklace with pictures and gems. \nThis is a family-run\, fun and interactive horse camp! Each child is special and will be treated with love.  Drop your child off at 10am and pick them up at 2pm (or stay and watch\, see details below). \nPictures will be provided digitally through email or text\, after the camp has ended\, so the memory can be shared to the whole family! \nWho:  Everyone.  This camp is open to boys and girls of all ages.  If your child is under 7\, you may not drop off.  If your child is under 5\, you will probably want to review the activities to see if it is something they can participate in and enjoy.  Nobody is being excluded\, so it is up to you to decide if it is something that is a good fit for your child.  If you have children who are too young to participate (like me – I have a one and two year old)\, you are welcome to stay and watch your older kids with your younger ones tagging along.  You do not have to pay for children that are not participating.  Sierra said that parents and tag along siblings can play outside (they live right on the beach!) or stay in the house if you are more comfortable. \nWhere: Private residence\, 141 Santa Monica Ave\, Channel Islands Harbor\, CA\, 93035 \nCost: $85 per child participant by July 16th.  This is a great price for a very unique and fun experience!  Payment needs to be received 2 weeks in advance.  You can send money via paypal to HelloHorsie@hotmail.com  or you can mail cash or drop it off at address above.  NO CHECKS. \nWhat to Bring: *Packed lunch (camp will provide water bottles) *Closed toe shoes are required * Sunblock is recomended *Camp provides helmets\, but you may bring your own bike helmet if you prefer *Carrots to feed the horse (totally optional\, but would be fun) \n Daily Schedule Details: \n \nI am so excited that Sierra Garlinger\, an ACHEV graduate\, is offering a private mini horse camp just for ACHEV members!  She has been running her own business with her miniature horse for a few years now.  You can learn more about her and her and her business here:   https://www.ponyridesfreddieservicehorse.com/

SUMMARY:Beach Day
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a beach play date on Thursday July 26th at Carpinteria City Beach at the end of Linden Ave (near the intersection of Linden and Sandyland). It’s best to look for free street parking\, but there is paid parking in the campground where the bathrooms are.  We will be meeting nearby the volleyball courts.   One tip I have for this beach is to bring shoes that will protect your feet from the hot sand while walking to and from the car and if you want to play Beach Volleyball – flip flops don’t do the trick.  The sand is beautiful and clean\, but gets hot very quickly when the sun is out.  I will be there with my blue beach tent and my kids will have their body boards.  We are bringing a picnic lunch\, but there is a neat little burger stand within walking distance from the beach called “The Spot”. \n

SUMMARY:Beach Day
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a play date at Harbor Cove Beach in Ventura\, also known as “Mother’s Beach” because this beach is protected from waves.  It is a great place for little swimmers to play in the water and big swimmers to really get out there without making mom worry. It is also great spot for kayaking or SUP. Bring your wet suits\, sand toys\, sunscreen\, hats and jackets ( you never know when the clouds will roll in or the wind will kick up). We will try to remember our volleyball if anyone wants to get a game going – they have several sand courts near the parking lot. \nParking is free and should be plentiful if you arrive around 10am.  There are restrooms in the parking lot. I will have a blue pop up tent. \nThere is no need to RSVP\, but it would be nice to know if you are planning on coming.  Just one rsvp for your family.

SUMMARY:ACHEV Fine Arts Festival
DESCRIPTION:Better late than never\, right?! \nThe Arts Festival is wonderful time for our students to share their God-given talents.  This is a non-judged activity\, designed to appreciate these God-given talents of the homeschool community.  Due to time constraints\, we may need to limit the number of activities per person (i.e. 2 solo events) depending on how many entries we receive! \nWe’ve had an amazing response in the past with such creative entries as comedic skits\, dance\, bands\, mime\, poetry reading\, excerpts from plays\, films\, instrumental solos (piano\, guitar\, harp\, violin…)\, vocal solos\, photography\, drawings\, sewing\, knitting\, models and more.  This is also a great opportunity to recognize and encourage the hard work that goes into developing these life enriching skills. \nThis year\, we would really like to see 2 or 3 parents show off one of their talents.  Don’t you think they would totally get a kick out of that?!  Now is your chance to “walk the walk” and show the kids that you aren’t afraid to get up in front of a group of people and perform – even though you are –  lol.  It’s okay\, we won’t laugh\, we will be totally encouraging.  Do any of you moms or dads play an instrument\, know how to juggle\, walk on your hands\, or drink a gallon of milk in 30 seconds?  No?  Me either\, but I’m sure you can think of something! \nWe are using Google Forms this year.  Let us know if you have any questions about filling them out.  At the end of the form\, you can select to have a copy emailed to you.  If you choose to have a copy of your response emailed to you\, the email will contain a link allowing you to edit your response if need be.  You may not be able to edit your response without this link.  If you make a mistake we can also delete the old form and you can submit it again.  It does not take long to fill out. \nPlease fill out your submission forms no later than Friday\, June 8th.  Please submit a separate form for each piece of artwork and each performance. \nVisual: \nhttps://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScg6rjho73vjq1BEpBkxKBql15WqVat_y3jN36DkAwh3xjEEQ/viewform?usp=sf_link \nPerforming: \nhttps://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeInw1gAXOD01ulm9SlJdjqfVm8NlxWUpU0IyXDufnV5jUyVQ/viewform?usp=sf_link \nPlease sign up for a volunteer job:  https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ggWp6W9WpOu-QYFWBKIKEuOphNI30AkxHKGUcmmfNPs/edit?usp=sharing \nPlease drop off your art no later than Saturday June 9th. \nCamarillo Art Drop Off: Janell Jones\, 1440 Old Ranch Road\, Camarillo\, CA 93012\,  janellrjones@me.com\, 805-469-7885 \nVentura Art Drop Off: Patty Silver\, 7427 Marmota Ct.\, Ventura\, CA 93003\, patricia.silver@me.com\, 805-220-0330 \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Used Curricululm (and more!) Exchange
DESCRIPTION:The Used Curriculum Exchange is a great way to wrap up the school year and start thinking about the next. It will be at Camino Real Park\, so there will be friends\, play\, sunshine\, and lots of neat resources to browse.  Pack a picnic lunch and bring outdoor play items if you wish. There are tennis courts\, a basket ball court\, baseball diamonds\, lots of open space\, and several play structures. \nWe like to have this event after the graduations\, but before the CHEA Convention\, so you not only get a chance to pass along what you no longer need\, but you may find some of the resources on your list\, free or at garage sale prices\, before you start shopping at the CHEA Convention or shopping online. In the internet age\, we sometimes forget how helpful it is to see books and ask our friends questions before making decisions. \nIt’s more than curriculum! Bring clothes your children have outgrown\, toys they no longer want\, too. I will have an EZ-Up to hang up clothing to make them easier to browse. Consider bringing skirts\, dresses\, slacks\, and gowns you no longer need that would be suitable for some of the ACHEV dances next year! \nRemember to price realistically. Events like this are more about passing the blessing on\, rather than recovering the cost. Remember how wonderful it is to be on the receiving side of a great deal! \nAt the end of the event\, anything you wish for me to donate\, please set in an area designated FREE/DONATE. I will donate whatever is there when I leave. \nThe City of Ventura asks that we keep the exchange within our group. Current and former members are welcome\, but no sales to the public. Thank you. \nI will arrive a little early to secure a spot and set out a sign. I will try for near the play structure by the tennis courts where there is a plenty of parking and space. If not there\, continue around toward the BBQ picnic areas.

SUMMARY:Beach Day
DESCRIPTION:We are having beach day instead of Camarillo park day this first Tuesday of June.  We are going to get there early (10am) to make sure that we can get close parking.  It is nearing summer\, and I like to beat the crowds\, so please come and keep us company. \nJoin us for a beach play date on Tuesday June 5th at Carpinteria City Beach at the end of Linden Ave (near the intersection of Linden and Sandyland). It’s best to look for free street parking which is typically really close.  We will be meeting nearby the volleyball courts.   One tip I have for this beach is to bring shoes that will protect your feet from the hot sand while walking to and from the car and if you want to play Beach Volleyball\, flip flops don’t do the trick.  The sand is beautiful and clean\, but gets hot very quickly when the sun is out.  I will be there with my blue beach tent and my kids will have their body boards.  We are bringing a picnic lunch\, but there is a neat little burger stand within walking distance from the beach called “The Spot”.
