DESCRIPTION:What: Field trip to Houweling’s Tomatoes in Camarillo \nHouweling’s Goup is is a family owned\, world-renowned greenhouse vegetable grower dedicated to delivering a full complement of delicious tomatoes\, cucumbers\, peppers and herbs\, while constantly innovating to reduce its environmental footprint. \nWe will be going on an outside walking tour of the facility.  We will be able to view the greenhouse\, but will not be going inside the greenhouse because of crop safety concerns. \nThe tour will last approximately one hour\, depending on questions\, and student interest. \nWho: Parents and students ages 9 and up only.  Maximum 15 people (including parents).  If you need to stay home with a younger child\, you can ask another parent to chaperone your older child that would like to attend the field trip. \nHow Much: Free \nDo: Wear closed toed shoes.  Dress in layers as we will be outside\, they also tend to have a strong breeze this time of year.  Bring cameras\, they just ask that you not take photos of their employees without their permission. \nAdditional Info: \nHere is an interview on youtube with the owner: \n\nParking: Guests can park along the gravel and dirt areas next to the greenhouse\, Please DO NOT drive into the greenhouse unless handicap spot needed. \nSign up by adding your information to the google sheet linked below. \n  \n

Do you wish your children had a greater appreciation for what they have? As a homeschool mother of four\, it pained me to hear my boys’ lack of gratitude for all the Lord had given them. One of the reasons we homeschooled was to teach our kids about who God is and that they can play a part in His plans. DESCRIPTION:Join us at Pitts Ranch Park in Camarillo for a play date\, fellowship & P.E.   This park has two play structures – one for smaller kids and one for bigger kids.  There is a baseball/kickball field and tennis courts.  We will bring a few tennis rackets and balls\, and the minimal baseball gear that we have.  There are wood chips – no sand. There are restrooms next to the playground.  There is lots of sidewalk that can be fun for riding bikes.  Bring some outdoor toys\, sports equipment\, blanket\, chairs and picnic lunch. \nPark day is a great time for moms to relax and chat while the kids play.  The older kids usually get a sport or game going.  We have kids of all ages joining us.  Take a break in your school day and join us for recess/lunch/PE at the park!  Camarillo Park days are every 1st and 3rd Tuesday throughout the year.  We will change parks now and then\, so make sure to check the calendar to see where we are going to be. \n

DESCRIPTION:Let’s dance with joy and thanksgiving this autumn at ACHEV’s country/harvest theme contra and square dance with a professional caller! No experience necessary as dances are taught and called. \nWho: Private homeschooled students in ACHEV\, CASA\, Trinity\, and Santa Barbara Christian Homesteaders\, 6th grade and up and parents. You may invite guests\, but guest need to be cleared in advance with with Patty Silver. \nThese dances are one of the few times we cannot include the whole family as there are no accommodations for children 5th grade and younger. Please make arrangements to leave younger children at home. Babes in arms OK. \nWhere: Calvary Nexus\, located at 380 Mobil Avenue in Camarillo \nChaperones: A parent chaperone is required for students under 18. As with all ACHEV functions\, parents are responsible for their children’s behavior and safety for the duration of the event. If you cannot chaperone your own child\, please make arrangements in advance with another parent. Thank you. \nCost: $10 per student\, $30 family limit\, parent chaperones free. Pay at the door with either cash or check payable to ACHEV. \nAttire: The Harvest Contra/Square Dance is casual. Boys may wear T-shirts and jeans. Girls may wear pants\, including blue jeans. For girls who wish to wear a dress or skirt\, the minimum hemline is touching the top of the knee. Please note if dresses have sheer layers\, it is the solid fabric that must be at least to the top of the knee. Make an effort to reach out to them and include them in your conversations.\nNot everyone knows how to dance…that is ok. DESCRIPTION:**To Sign up for this field trip\, read all the information below.  Scroll down past the blue “Google Calendar” button where it says “Details” and then below that find “Website” and click on the link to a Google Sheets sign up sheet where you will fill out your information in order to reserve your place for the field trip. \nWhat: Field Trip to the Pumpkin Patch at Limoneira Ranch sponsored by the Rotary Club of Santa Paula. \nHistory abounds at Limoneira Ranch\, a farming operation established in 1893 with barns\, outbuildings and farm equipment for everyone to enjoy.  Spend an extraordinary day in the country experience the joy and laughter which naturally occurs during a visit to the Pumpkin Patch. \n\nLearn how a pumpkin grows\nPick your very own sugar pumpkin to take home\nPlay on the Hay Pyramid\nGo on a Hayride\nVisit the FFA Petting Zoo: There are goats\, sheep\, cows\, and ducks to pet!\nBring a picnic lunch or snack to eat in the picnic area\nPlay in the Hay Maze\n\nWho: Everyone! \nWhen: Tour starts at 10:00\, please arrive between 9:40-9:45 so that we can collect\, count cash\, and pay before the tour starts.  If you are bringing a picnic lunch\, we will also be getting those out ahead of time and putting them on a picnic bench where we may eat later. \nHow Much: $7 per person\, students & adults.  Please bring cash. Children 2 and under are free\, but will not receive a pumpkin.  Students will get to choose a sugar pie pumpkin included in the field trip fee.  Adults\, even though required to pay\, will not receive a pumpkin included in the fee.  Remember that these fees help to support the non-profit organization Santa Paula Rotary Club. \nA variety of pumpkins and gourds will be available for purchase after the field trip.  You can pay for those with cash or card. \nWhat to Bring:  \n\nWater: There is no drinking water on site\, so make sure to bring enough with you\nLunch or snack if you wish to eat after the tour\nHats\, sunscreen\n\nOther Information: The regular weekend vendors are not there on field trip days\, so you must bring your own food and water. \nDogs are not allowed \nDirections:  12471 Foothill Road across from Olivelands School\, there will be signs.  You can either take Wells Rd to Foothill\, or take the 126 and exit Briggs. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Camarillo Park Day at Bob Kildee Park
DESCRIPTION:This October we are meeting at Bob Kildee Park (same as last month).  This park has a rubbery play area (no sand)\, tennis\, handball & pickleball (new) courts\,  some concrete for roller skating\, and enough grass for playing sports.   The bathrooms are nice and very close to the playground. \nWe have toddlers to teens joining us\, so come join us! \nPark day is a great time for moms to relax and chat while the kids play.  The older kids usually get a sport or game going.  We have kids of all ages joining us.  Take a break in your school day and join us for recess/lunch/PE at the park!  Camarillo Park days are every 1st and 3rd Tuesday throughout the year.  We will change parks now and then\, so make sure to check the calendar to see where we are going to be. \n

DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a fun field trip to the Moxi Museum in Santa Barbara.  This is a fun interactive science museum.  We have access to the lab and freedom to explore the museum in small groups.  It is a fun place to play and learn! \nWhen: Thursday\, October 10\, 2019 \nTime: 10am (please arrive 10 minutes early to check in) \nWho:  All ACHEV members \nPricing: \nStudent Admission: $14 ($7 for admission & $7 for lab) \nChaperones: Free up to a 1:5 ratio (the first parents to sign up will have priority.  All other parents will need to pay $13) \nAll Credentialed Teachers with ID: Free (Please let Amy Tromans know if this applies to you) \nAdditional Chaperones: $13 – You may purchase your ticket when we arrive. \n  \nRSVP:  Sign up on the google doc by October 2nd & pay Amy Tromans student admission \nYou can send or drop off money to: Amy Tromans\, 5265 Clemson St Ventura\, CA 93003 \n(I am also usually at Camarillo Park Days and most other ACHEV events.) \n  \nHere are some field trip guidelines for your upcoming trip: \nAll our exhibits are hands-on and interactive because MOXI is a place for exploration and discovery! Because of this\, our field trips are self-guided with floor staff “MOXI Sparks” available to assist. \nField trips typically spend about 90 minutes in the museum and have access to the entire museum. The Innovation Workshop is a room located to right of the entrance on the first floor. We are welcome to explore the Workshop if there’s only 2 or 3 families in there at a time. The students may explore the Interactive Media Theater but must do so in groups of 7 or fewer and must be accompanied by a chaperone. \nFood and Drink: Please have your students leave their backpacks and water bottles in the car. We do not have any area within the museum for field trips to eat lunch. Most of our field trips that bring lunches\, eat at the grassy area right next to MOXI or walk down to the sitting wall at the beach. \nEngineering Exploration Lab Information: \nYour group will go into the Engineering Exploration lab at 10:00 AM for about 50 minutes. We only need to have teachers and a chaperone or two in the lab during this time. The other chaperones can either be out on the museum floor or they can grab a coffee out on State street (no food or drink allowed in the museum) and meet the group when they are finished at around 11:00 AM. \nParking:  Most of our visitors park in the train station parking lot (right next to MOXI). The first 75 minutes are free and every additional hour is $1.50.
