SUMMARY:Beach Day - Carpinteria
DESCRIPTION:Join us for beach time at Carpinteria City Beach at the end of Linden Ave (near the intersection of Linden and Sandyland). It’s best to look for free street parking\, but there is paid parking in the campground where the bathrooms are. \nHow to Find Us: If you park on Linden Ave\, walk to the end of the street (the street ends in a parking lot and there is a lifeguard tower right there and a hotel).  Walk straight out and to the left – we will plan to park our stuff in front of the volleyball courts\, but close to the water.  I will be there with my blue beach tent up\, a big blue beach blanket and my kids will have their body boards. I have long blonde hair and I have two little blonde kids age 5  & 6 ( a boy and a girl) who had better be wearing their black bucket hats =) and then I have two teenagers (boy 18 and girl 15) who will probably be in the water.  We are bringing a picnic lunch\, but there is a neat little burger stand within walking distance from the beach called “The Spot”.  We will bring a volleyball for the big kids that want to play. \nIt would be nice to know you are coming so we can look out for you.  Let me know if you are coming so we can try to be sure you find us!   You can rsvp by emailing bonnieadair@verizon.net or text me at 805-504-6457

SUMMARY:Used Curriculum and Clothing Exchange/Sale
DESCRIPTION:ACHEV families\, bring your used curricula\, books and other home school items and any used clothing that you would like to sell or give away to other home schooling families. You are welcome bring anything you wish to donate to the ACHEV Curriculum Library\, and you are welcome to leave anything you do not wish to take back home with you. We will have a table designated for donation.\n\nThis is a lovely event for fellowship for all ages. It’s a chance to look at curriculum\, too! When my kids were young\, they really loved bringing some of their own money to buy a few things they wanted\, and\, of course\, to play all morning with their friends. Good times!\n\nCamino Real Park is large and beautiful with lots of play areas\, tennis courts\, basketball court\, baseball diamonds\, and multiple play structures. Perhaps some of the older kids and parents would like to get some games going! Something I really appreciate about Camino Real Park is the easy parking for loading/unloading. You can back into a parking spot and you are right where you need to be – not much lugging around.\n~ Susan Pineda\n\nWhat: ACHEV Annual Used Curriculum + Clothing Sale\nWhen: Tuesday\, June 14 from 10 AM – 1 PM\nWhere: Camino Real Park\, off Dean Drive in Ventura\nLet’s set meet up by the play structure and grassy area just past the tennis courts. There is parking adjacent to the grassy area and all along the tennis court area.\n\nThis is an exchange/sale within our group only\, as the city does not allows sales to the public at city parks. This event is open to current and former ACHEV members only.  Thank you for understanding.\n\nSuggestions for what to bring:\n– Layers\, as it can be breezy at this side of town\n– Hats\, sunscreen\n– rollerblades\, bikes\, scooters\, balls\, frisbees\, etc.\n– picnic lunch\n– bags for your loot\n– cash/small bills and coins for making change

SUMMARY:Fine Arts Festival 2022
DESCRIPTION:ACHEV Fine Arts Festival 2022 – Tuesday\, May 10 @ Community Bible Church Ventura \nThe ACHEV Fine Arts Festival is back!  This year it will be held at 6:30 PM on Tuesday\, May 10 at Community Bible Church\, 5040 Telegraph Road\, Ventura.  The Arts Festival is a wonderful time for our students to share their God-given talents.  This is a non-judged activity\, designed to appreciate the talents of the homeschool community.  Due to time constraints\, we may need to limit the number of activities per person (i.e.\, 2 solo events) depending on how many entries we receive! \nWe’ve had an amazing response in the past with such creative entries as comedic skits\, dance\, bands\, mime\, poetry reading\, excerpts from plays\, films\, instrumental solos (piano\, guitar\, harp\, violin…)\, vocal solos\, photography\, drawings\, sewing\, knitting\, models and more.  This is also a great opportunity to recognize and encourage the hard work that goes into developing these life-enriching skills. \nWe ask that all performing and fine art be appropriate for families with young children and glorifying to God. When our families come together as a group\, we hope to create an atmosphere that allows for consideration and grace. \nValues we trust every ACHEV family to embrace are: \n\nArtist/performer – Personal opinions and freedoms can and should at times be humbly set aside temporarily for the sake of the community. A good rule of thumb is if you have any concern it might offend\, chose something safer to perform/create/wear. Remember all ages may be present\, and ask yourself\, “Will it honor God?”\, and “Will it bless those who hear and see?”\nAudience – There is a time and place to graciously make allowances for the differing opinions about what is appropriate to perform/create/wear. Since this event serves our entire membership\, we can expect our diverse community to be just that: diverse. That is part of the beauty of community. We offer benefit of the doubt that each participant sincerely desires to honor God and bless those who hear and see.\n\n_____________________________________________________________________________________ \nParents are welcome to perform and/or display fine art as well!  We would really like to see 2 or 3 parents show off one of their talents as an encouragement for the students. \nPlease fill out your submission forms no later than Friday\, April 29.  We will not be accepting submissions after the deadline.  You must submit a separate form for each piece of artwork and each performance. \nTo make this event happen\, we need all parents to volunteer.  We are asking every family to bring a plate of cookies/finger-snacks to share AND to volunteer for one of the jobs listed in the Google Form linked below.  We will contact you before the festival to let you know what your job will be.  Thank you for all of your help! \nClick on the forms below to sign up!\nVolunteer Form (required for all families) \nVisual Arts Entry Form \nPerforming Arts Entry Form \nPlease drop off your fine art no later than Friday\, April 29. \nCamarillo Art Drop Off: \nLorena Saruwatari \n4634 Refugio Court\, Camarillo\, CA 93012 \nldcs68@protonmail.com \n  \nVentura Art Drop Off: \nPatty Silver \n7427 Marmota Ct \nVentura\, CA 93003 \npatricia.silver@icloud.com

That is ok. She is probably nervous waiting to be asked.\nOffer her your hand or your arm and escort her onto the dance floor\nWhen the dance is over\, escort her off the floor and thank her for the dance.\n\nFor Girls: \n\nIf a boy asks you to dance\, graciously accept his offer.\nIf you stand with your friends in a closed circle\, it is hard and nerve wracking for a boy to ask you to dance. Make yourself available by opening up your circle.\nPlease limit the amount of dancing you do with your girl-friends and only do it if there are no boys available to dance with.\n\nFor Both: \n\nEvery dance has first time attendees. Make an effort to reach out to them and include them in your conversations.\nNot everyone knows how to dance…that is ok. Everyone has to begin sometime.\nA Sadie Hawkins dance is when a girl can ask a boy to dance.  The boys are to do the asking unless we announce a Sadie Hawkins dance.\nIt is okay to sit out for a dance\, but remember\, we are here to dance.  This is a special occasion\, and there will be time for goofing around\, chatting and socializing another time.  Please come to the after party for some food and social time!\n\n
