SUMMARY:Elementary PE Group
DESCRIPTION:What: Please join us in engaging our younger elementary children in teaching them how to work as a team and develop perseverance\, good sportsmanship and friendships through physical activity.  Our goal is to choose activities that will challenge the kids a bit\, but something that they can be successful at.  Structured PE activities will be around 45 minutes long. Afterwards we will have optional free play. \nParents will take turns organizing/planning/leading the activities and do a different activity every month. If you need equipment\, reach out to the other parents or ACHEVmoms on Facebook to see if it can be obtained/borrowed for free\, or come up with another idea that doesn’t require equipment you don’t have.  We are not expecting anyone to spend $$ on equipment.  Some examples: Relay races\, duck duck goose/Simon Says/Red light-Green Light\, trash can basketball\, Capture the Flag\, Freeze Tag/Blob tag\, dodgeball\, jump rope games\, push up games\, track and field games\, etc. \nWho: ACHEV members under 10 and parents.  ACHEV members over 10 are welcome to come and help the younger kids with the activities\, sit and watch\, or go play volleyball with the ACHEV volleyball group at Pitts Ranch.  Drop off is ok for ACHEV volleyball (please see calendar for details on volleyball). \nElementary PE is not a drop off event\, and parents should be available and willing to help their children through the activities\, giving assistance and encouragement as needed.  \nElementary PE is a co-op\, but will remain open for ACHEV members to join us any time. DESCRIPTION:Field Trip at One Acre Farm!  One Acre Farm grows delicious organic blueberries and strawberries.  We expect there will be strawberries and blueberries to pick\, but the crops depend on the weather and it’s still a few weeks out.  They planted more strawberries this year and they planted them in the ground and they have been doing very well and are huge and delicious.\n\n\n\n\n\nLearn first hand about…\nGrowing Fruit\nPlanting\nSelling\nSmall Business Farming…We love teaching our future generations and would love to pass our knowledge and encouragement on to them!\n\n\n\nCost: Entrance is free $20 per full bucket of strawberries and blueberries (you can purchase partially filled buckets\, you don’t have to fill it).  They are also selling their blueberry bushes (in containers) at only $20 per container.\n             Pay with cash or card\n\n\nThey provide buckets to pick your berries into\, and they will provide plastic clamshell containers for taking them home.  You may bring your own re-useable containers for packing and taking them home if you like.\n\nWho: All ages.  All ACHEV members.\n\nOne Acre Farm is located on Gerry Ranch on the outskirts of Camarillo right off of Santa Rosa Rd.  I will email everyone more specific details for parking/directions before the field trip.\nSign Up Here

DESCRIPTION:What: Daddies and Daughters\, we are having a special event for you!  Get your special girl (or girls) a corsage and bring her to the Father-Daughter Dance.   There will be a mini-lesson so you will know enough steps to take your girl on the dance floor.  We’ll also do a line dance or two.  We will have light refreshments\, punch\, and water.   \nSign Up for the Dance Here\nWho: All ACHEV Dads and their daughters age 5+\, including graduates.  We also encourage Grandfathers\, Stepfathers\, Uncles and other adult male role models to accompany a young lady.  What if you have more than one daughter?!    You can have another adult male accompany one of your daughters\, or if you are accompanying more than one young lady\, we will rotate partners so that all your girls will get some dance time. \nCost: $25 per pair\, and $5 for a single daughter.  For example; If Dad comes and bring two daughters\, it would be $25+$5=$30 total.  If Dad comes with three daughters\, it would be $35.  If Dad comes with two daughters and Grandpa\, it is $25 per pair/couple so it would be $50.  Pay with cash or check made out to ACHEV when you arrive\, or pay with Zelle to achevmail@gmail.com \nTime: Event will begin at 3:00\, please arrive at 2:45 to check in at the ticket table\, take photos\, and be ready to begin on time. \nDress Code: Dads\, please honor this special time with your daughters by dressing nice and following the dress code.  Daughters must also follow the dress code\, the dress code applies to all ages.  We encourage you to wear semi-formal attire\, but the minimum dress code is below. This is our standard dress code for ACHEV dances. \nFathers: \n\nCollared shirts (button-up or polo)\, long sleeve or short sleeved.\nSlacks\, NO jeans. Do not wear pants that look like jeans.  \nClosed toe shoes.\n\nDaughters: \n\n Skirts or dresses knee length or longer. (This means touching the top of the kneecap\, regardless of leggings.) If there is a lace overlay\, the skirt underneath (solid fabric) needs to touch the kneecap.\nSlits in skirts cannot rise above the top of the kneecap regardless of leggings underneath.  If your skirt/dress just touches the top of the knee and it has a slit in it\, it is too short.  You can stitch up a slit or use safety pins to close it up.\nLeggings or shorts are required if the skirt rises past the knees while twirling.  It’s a good idea to wear shorts or leggings under your skirts regardless of length.\nNo low-cut\, strapless\, backless\, or halter tops. No peekaboo cutouts.  Solid Straps need to be at least one inch wide.  No exposed cleavage\, midriffs or bra straps.  If you aren’t sure\, wear a cardigan over your dress.\nIf your top is sheer or see through\, you need to wear underneath solid straps that are at least one inch wide.\nGirls can wear a t-shirt under their dress or along with a skirt.\nNo pants (other than leggings under your skirt or dress).\nClosed toe shoes are recommended.  No flip flops\, socks\, or bare feet.  If the girls want to wear heels\, please bring a second pair of shoes that will be more comfortable in case they need/want to remove their heels.\n\nPlease view the visual dress code: ACHEV Dress Code for Dances In General \nHelpers: I would like a few people to bring a plate of cookies or cupcakes to share.  I would also love to have a photographer for this special event.  Do you have a relative or friend that would like to donate their time to do this for us?  Or perhaps a mom can come take photos while the dads and girls dance?  For decorations\, we don’t need much and I will just have some basic things set up\, but if there is a mom with a knack for decor and just loves doing that sort of thing\, we’d love to have your help with decorating before the event.  You can sign up to help with photography\, decor\, or bringing a treat on the same sign up sheet here.

DESCRIPTION:What: We would like to invite you to our Totally Rad 80’s Dance party.  80’s music will be featured\, and period dress is encouraged!  We will have a fun photo spot for taking pictures.  Read on for dress code and clothing ideas.  Please read this entire notice and pay attention that you must: \n\nSign up in advance for this dance.  Students and parents need to sign up.  I need to make sure that we have enough attendees to be able to pay the venue\, and we also have a maximum number we cannot exceed.\nBe on time.  Please do not sign up for this dance unless you can be on time.\nPlease carefully read the dress code and etiquette guidelines below and share them with your guests.\nParticipate in the dance lesson that begins at 7pm\, and most importantly…\nCome prepared to dance the night away with old and new friends\, have a good attitude and do your best!\n\nWhen:  Saturday\, July 26th from 7:00-10:15 \nWhere: House of Dance: 3007 Bunsen Ave Ste E\, Ventura\, CA https://www.pmhouseofdance.com/ \nCost: $15 per student/grad\, includes a 30 minute dance lesson at the beginning\, taught by Patricia Monico.  Parent chaperones are free and welcome to join the lesson and dancing. \nPayment: Payment in advance is very helpful \, but not required.  You can pay with cash or Zelle when you arrive. \n        Advance Payment Options: \n\nDeliver Cash or check (made payable to “ACHEV”) to Bonnie Adair in person at 174 Granada Street\, Camarillo\, CA 93010.  You can drop in my mailbox in an envelope with a note\, send through USPS\, or meet up with me somewhere.\nZelle: ACHEV can now accept Zelle payments to achevmail@gmail.com.  If you use Zelle please include a note that payment is for the 80’s dance and list the names of the students/grads/guests you are paying for.\nPayments for this dance are going through ACHEV.  Please don’t send any personal payments to Bonnie or payment to House of Dance.  I will be collecting all payments through ACHEV and delivering payment to House of Dance in one lump-sum.\n\nWho: ACHEV members 6th Grade and up\, ACHEV parents\, and ACHEV graduates are also welcome.  Parents are welcome and encouraged to join in the dancing.  *Younger siblings are not permitted at this dance. \nGuests:  Space is limited.  Guests will not be approved until July 12th.     Clear all guests through Bonnie Adair bonnieadair@verizon.net and make sure they are on the sign up sheet if approved.  Most importantly\, be sure that they are familiar with the dress code and etiquette (below). \nChaperones: Each student under 18 must have a parent chaperone.  You may have another parent chaperone in your place.  Chaperones are responsible for the behavior and safety of their children for the duration of the event. \nWhat to Bring: \n\nWater bottles.  This helps reduce costs and waste.   We will have water and cups available in case someone forgets theirs.\nAn extra pair of shoes in case your dress shoes become uncomfortable.    Bare feet or socks only is not permitted.\nA finger food to share with the group.  Please don’t bring any beverages other than water.  No Gum.\n\nHow to Sign up:  Click Here for sign up sheet\nDress Code: \nWe don’t enjoy having to ask people to change\, so please help out your fellow moms and follow the dress code carefully.  If you are having trouble\, or are unsure about anything\, reach out and ask questions or ask to borrow something.  Carefully read the dress code here in pdf form: 80s Dance Visual Dress Code 2024  or here in Google Docs to review the dress code for this dance. \nBasic Dance Etiquette.  Please go over this with your dancers:\nFor Boys: \n\nAsk a variety of girls to dance.  They are waiting for you to ask.\nYou may be nervous asking a girl to dance. That is ok. She is probably nervous waiting to be asked.\nOffer her your hand or your arm and escort her onto the dance floor\nWhen the dance is over\, escort her off the floor and thank her for the dance.\n\nFor Girls: \n\nIf a boy asks you to dance\, graciously accept his offer unless you need to rest or take a breather\, in which case you may say “no thank you”.  If you decline an offer to dance\, you will rest for the duration of that song.\nIf you stand with your friends in a closed circle\, it is hard and nerve wracking for a boy to ask you to dance. Make yourself available by opening up your circle.\n\nFor Both: \n\nEvery dance has first time attendees. Make an effort to reach out to them and include them in your conversations.\nNot everyone knows how to dance…that is ok. Everyone has to begin sometime.  Fortunately\, at this dance\, everyone will get a cha cha lesson to help you get started.\nA Sadie Hawkins dance is when a girl can ask a boy to dance.  The boys are to do the asking unless we announce a Sadie Hawkins dance.\nIf you decline an offer to dance\, that means you will be sitting out for the entire dance\nPlease listen and follow instructions during the dance lesson without too much chatting.\n\nFor Parent Chaperones: \nDuring the lesson from 7-7:30 if you are not taking the lesson\, please refrain from chatting much.  Even low voices\, when there are a lot of them\,  can get loud.  It is difficult for the teacher to compete with the additional noise. \nVolunteers Help the event run smoothly.  Please consider signing up for a volunteer help job at the dance. \n  \n  \n
