SUMMARY:Volleyball Clinic & Field Games
DESCRIPTION:Update: We are now meeting at Pitts Ranch Park!! \nKevin Adair has been running this volleyball clinic for ACHEV kids 10 and up for a few years now.  The kids play volleyball games from 2pm-3pm.  At 3pm\, we will leave one volleyball net up\, and Kevin/Mr. Adair will do drills and work on technique with any of the kids who want to work on their game\, just stay over at the net if you want to work on your game.  For the kids who don’t want to work on technique\, and for younger kids who want to play\, they will be playing other field games from 3pm – 4 or 4:30.  Sometimes they are having so much fun that we are there until 5\, but you can drag your kids away whenever you need to.  They play games like  scatterball\, spike\, 4 square\, and chaos tag.  Scatterball seems to be the favorite right now.  They have a lot of fun. \nSchedule: \n2-3pm volleyball games \n3-3:30 technique \n3-4:00/4:30 field games \nWho: ACHEV kids ages 10 and up \nPlease rsvp via email bonnieadair@verizon.net and make sure I have your email address and cell number in case I need to reach you. \nSomething to think about…I have little kids (as well as teens)\, ages 4 and 5\, and it would be nice to get a group of younger kids together at the same time as volleyball\, that way the big kids and the little kids will have something to do and be able to make friends.  We could do outdoor games/sports geared towards the younger kids\, outdoor exploration\, crafts\, etc.  Email me bonnieadair@verizon.net  if you are interested in helping me start something like that.  Thanks =) \nBonnie 805-504-6457 \nKevin 805-906-0520 \n

SUMMARY:Ballroom Dance Class
DESCRIPTION:What: Private ballroom dance classes for ACHEV at House of Dance – Lesson for 45 minutes\, practice for 25 minutes.  The kids will have 25 minutes for the kids to practice to music on their own/with their friends and also to review the dances they have learned in the past so they don’t forget\, and hopefully that will make the classes even more fun. It will be like a mini-dance party =)  Each dance will be taught for 4 weeks\, so one dance will be learned per month. \nWho: ACHEV and invited homeschooling friends ages 10 and up.  Please clear invited friends through Bonnie at bonnieadair@verizon.net.  We can keep a waitlist\, as space may open for different sessions. We have to have equal number boys and girls in order for the class to work. Partners rotate throughout the class. \nWhere: House of Dance \, 3007 Bunsen Ave\, Ventura 93003   https://www.pmhouseofdance.com/ \nWhen: Wednesdays 4pm – 5:10 pm\, beginning August 4th\nThere will be four classes per month. For months with five Wednesdays\, we will not meet the 5th Wednesday.  \n*** exception for September *** We cannot meet 9/1\, so we will meet 9/29. \nThese are the dances we would learn.  We can move the line up around\, but it was organized so that it would alternate between a rhythm dance and a smooth dance: \n·         Cha Cha \n·         Waltz \n·         East Coast Swing \n·         Foxtrot \n·         Rumba \n·         Tango \n Cost: Each 4 week session will be $40 per student.  That is only 10 per lesson per student. \nSign up sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Vsa0MnIs7W0ELCIU9ORdC06CLQfvdBQGposMHw50zhs/edit#gid=0 \nQuestions? SUMMARY:Mom's Night Out
DESCRIPTION:Mom’s Night Out is a time of refreshment\, an oasis for the homeschool mom. We aim to plan several different outings hosted by various moms throughout the year. Tonight\, we will meet at Susan Pineda’s home in Ventura. \nIt’s UFO night! Do you have a UFO (an Un-Finished Object)? Perhaps it is a craft project\, knitting\, or hand-sewing you never seem to have time to get to or to finish. I welcome you to bring it along. Let me know what you’re bringing so I can be prepared with work-surface and good lighting for you. \nHave you wanted to learn how to knit or crochet? I would love to get you started on a simple project. I have supplies to share. Just let me know and I’ll set out what you need. \nCome over\, have some homemade cookies\, hot cocoa or tea\, and settle in for some Mom time. We can talk about anything that’s on your mind. ~Susan \nContact: Susan at 805-407-6851 or must_sew@yahoo.com.

SUMMARY:CHEA Webinar: Homeschooling Preschool
DESCRIPTION:From CHEA’s website: \n“Many families are beginning their exploration of private home education when their children are two\, three\, or four years old. Often seeking curriculum and other at-home resources to begin teaching the youngest members of their family\, it can be easy to get caught in the trap of formal instruction when it is not yet necessary (and as some research shows\, not beneficial). Join three homeschool moms who have experienced homeschooling a preschooler and are now at various points in their homeschool journey. The panel discussion will be followed by a time of Q&A. This event is free\, but registration is required.” \nTo learn more\, read about the panelists\, and to register\, visit https://www.cheaofca.org/events/homeschooling-preschool-webinar/

SUMMARY:(No support meeting January)
DESCRIPTION:We’re not meeting in January. See you next month\, Lord willing!\nThis is not an ACHEV sponsored event. It is a church small group for homeschool parents\, open to the church and the community. ACHEV parents are welcome.\nBefore the public health order\, we would open our home to ACHEV parents about one evening a month for support meetings on a variety of topics throughout the year. While we have adapted by offering shorter weekly support with Tips at Two on Zoom\, we sure miss being able to meet in person. \nNow that churches are permitted to host small groups of ten or less\, I’ve decided to lead a small group at Encounter\, a homeschool support group! Tips at Two will continue as long as it is needed. These additional monthly meetings will be for deeper discussions and fellowship support in person. I am open to ideas\, topics\, speaker suggestions\, etc. \nThis will be held 2nd Tuesday evenings monthly at Encounter\, located at 6950 Ralston Avenue (corner of Johnson and Ralston) in Ventura\, room 301\, which is in the modular building closest to the small parking lot on Johnson Avenue. \nIf you would like to register at the church website\, visit https://encounterlife.churchcenter.com/registrations/events/548502 and scroll down to find the homeschool support group. Registration is not essential\, but registered members of the group will have first chance to RSVP for each meeting. Please let me know if you have any questions. \nDates for the year – RSVP to Susan at 805-407-6851. \n10/13/2020 – New to homeschooling? Please come and invite a friend who is curious about home education. RSVP to Susan Pineda to make sure there is space for you. \n11/10/2020 – Planning and scheduling for a peaceful and efficient homeschool \n12/8/2020 – Topic TBD \n1/12/2021 – Topic TBD \n2/9/2021 – Topic TBD \n3/9/2021 – Topic TBD \n4/13/2021 – Topic TBD \n5/11/2021 – Topic TBD \nI’ll edit with topics for discussion\, guest speakers\, etc. as the year progresses. \nI look forward to supporting homeschool parents in person in a safe and permitted place! Thank you for your patience. I appreciate your prayers as we plan. \nSusan Pineda
