DESCRIPTION:What: Field Trip with Nature Track to Gaviota State Park (not beach).  Emphasis: Plants and animals\, habitats\, human use of the land\, natives. \nSpecially trained naturalists\, who enjoy sharing their knowledge and love of the outdoors with students\, lead NatureTrack adventures.  “The not-for-profit NatureTrack advocates the educational approach of noted author and educator David Sobel that fosters a child’s love of the earth while also developing a child’s academic and social competence. David Sobel’s most recent book “Place-Based Education: Connecting Classrooms & Communities” offers scientific and anecdotal evidence that placed-based education is successfully meeting\, and in many cases surpassing\, the various standards and mandates that are increasingly a part of educational reform in this country.” \nYou can read more about NatureTrack here \nWho: All ACHEV Members.  This field trip is geared towards K-8\, but younger and older siblings are welcome. \nCost: Free \nWhere: We will be at Gaviota State Park\, not the beach.  Exact meetup location details will be given was we get closer to the field trip date. \nWaivers must be completed at least one week in advance\, scanned and emailed to Monica Zamora at monicazam@gmail.com \nWaiver in English \nWaiver en Espanol \nSign Up Sheet Here\nAdditional Details: \n\nWe will be splitting up into two groups so that the docents can give plenty of attention to each student.\n We will be eating lunch on the trail\, as I understand it.  They ask that each student has their own backpack with two water bottles and lunch.   Just make sure you bring enough food and water for yourself and your kids with you on the walk – if you want to carry it all\, or have your kids carry their own is up to you.\nParents attending will be asked to participate in all activities with the exception of answering questions intended for the students!\nStudents are discouraged from bringing cell phones or cameras with them on the trail.  Parents may have a cell phone/camera\, but they would like parents to set a good example in not using them on the trip.  I think it is fine for the parents to take some pictures or use a cell phone if necessary\, but please make sure it is not a distraction.\n Participants should wear long pants\, closed toed sturdy shoes\, a hat and sunscreen.

SUMMARY:Calvary Center Stage Production of Peter & the Wolf
DESCRIPTION:What: A special school field trip production of Peter & The Wolf.  Last year we attended their production of Frozen Jr. and it was a very memorable event! \nCalvary Center Stage is cordially inviting your school to attend a production of Peter & the Wolf and other concert pieces in collaboration with Los Robles Children’s Choir and the Conejo Valley Youth Orchestra. This is a free event\, but a reservation is necessary to secure seats.  I have reserved 30 seats for ACHEV.  There is only one date for the show on Friday\, March 31 @ 10:00 am. The show will run approximately 45 minutes\, and students will have an opportunity to play some of the instruments in the lobby after the concert. \nAlthough the performance is only 45 minutes\, students will have a chance to try some of the instruments in the lobby after the concert. This will be made available until 11:15 am. \nThis is an Open Seating Event. Doors open a half hour before the performance.  I would like to meet up in front a little early (before doors open at 9:30) so we can try to sit together as a group.  Last year\, they did organize us by group and have special assigned seating by group.  As the event gets closer\, I will confirm with them what the seating arrangements will be and let everyone know what to do and where to meet. \nSign Up Here.   Sign up deadline is March 24\, 2023.  Please include all students and parents attending on the sign up sheet.

SUMMARY:Ballroom Dance Classes Ages 11+
DESCRIPTION:What: Private ballroom dance classes for ACHEV at House of Dance – Lesson for 45 minutes\, dance practice to music for 15 minutes.  Each series is 4 weeks.  Sometimes we will do one dance for two months in a row.  There are many fun dances to learn.  So far this school year\, we have learned Waltz\, Foxtrot\, and West Coast Swing. \nFebruary: We will do 4 weeks of Level II Single Time Swing.  If you have not taken single time swing classes with us before\, there is a beginner workshop for you to attend on Wednesday January 25th in order for you to be allowed to join the February series.  Sign Up For February Classes \nMarch & April: Samba for beginners.  This class has not been offered to ACHEV before\, so everyone will be a beginner.  This is a fun\, bouncy Latin dance but can be danced to a lot of pop music as well as Latin.  This class will continue for two 4-week sessions. There is no class on Wednesday March 29th since it is a 5th Wednesday\, but we are offering an East Coast Swing beginner class instead\, so go to the ACHEV calendar if you are interested in joining that. DESCRIPTION:This one time workshop is open to students who have already taken beginner waltz classes at House of Dance.  \nWhat: This is a waltz review and level 2 workshop for those who have already taken the beginner class at House of Dance.  This is a one-time workshop to help you remember the moves you have already learned and hopefully also learn something new. \nWho: ACHEV and invited guests who have already taken beginner waltz at House of Dance.  Ages 12+ .   We must have equal number boys and girls in order for the class to work.  Minimum of 4 boys and 4 girls in order to hold these classes.  Partners rotate throughout the class. \nWhere: House of Dance \, 3007 Bunsen Ave\, Ventura 93003   https://www.pmhouseofdance.com/ \nWhen: Wednesday January 11th 4pm – 5:00 pm \nCost: $12 per student. \nSign Up Sheet\nWe must have an even number of boys and girls.  Any girls in excess of boys\, or vice versa\, are considered to be on the waitlist.  We must have a minimum of 4 boys and 4 girls to proceed with the class. \nQuestions? SUMMARY:Teen Game Club
DESCRIPTION:What: Teen directed board games.   We have tons of board games.  You are welcome to bring a favorite game from home to share with the group as well.  They usually start out with board games and will migrate towards group role play games at the end of the afternoon.  They have a lot of fun.  We have snacks\, so feel free to bring one to share but it is not needed so don’t stress about bringing something. \nWho: ACHEV members 6th Grade and up\, recent ACHEV grads. \nRSVP: Is needed so that I can make sure we have enough chairs and tables out\, or in case we need to change the host home in case of illness\, etc.  Bonnieadair@verizon.net 805-504-6457 \nDrop off is okay for this event.  Feel free to go home or run errands\, etc.  If parents prefer to stay\, that is welcome as well\, and if you have younger children with you they can stay also.  Please let me know if you will be bringing younger children with you so I can plan something for our younger kids to do together while the teens have their game time. \nWe usually have teen game club every 2nd and 4th Monday in Camarillo.
