DESCRIPTION:Part of CHEA’s Summer Series 2020\nVirtually every child in our nation has spent the last few months homeschooling. Some parents had already chosen private Christian home education because of what is happening in our public schools–from graphic sex education to values that do not align with our Christian faith to the promotion of agendas of powerful and vocal special interest groups. Others are now considering bringing their children home out of concern for what the classroom environment will look like when schools resume. \nThis raises some questions for churches. What can the church do to help? Does the church have a role to play? Is homeschooling a viable option for Christian parents? \nThe Bible says that parents are responsible for their children’s upbringing and education. Regardless of the form of education (public or private)\, the responsibility rests on parents to see that their children are educated. Can we hope to pass our faith and a biblical worldview on to our children when they are being educated in a godless environment? Can we expect our children to have an abiding faith when schools teach or infer that God belongs in the compartments of home and church\, but not in schools or the greater society? \nREGISTRATION\nWhile this event is free\, registration is required. Brad can be heard weekly on The Dacus Report on more than 170 radio stations across the country. His varied public speaking opportunities include public debate and testifying before the United States House of Representatives in Washington\, D.C. DESCRIPTION:Please join us in prayer Friday evening\, 6/7\, for the Garcia family. Joel and Ondreea Garcia joined ACHEV last year. We have enjoyed getting to know Ondreea and her daughters at park day. Ondreea shared the following heartbreaking need for prayer and support\, \n“Sadly\, my daughter-in-law took her own life. She left behind my son and 17 month old grandson. If you could share a prayer request for them\, it would mean a lot.” \nWhile we will dedicate the evening to prayer for the Garcia family\, there will be time to pray for whatever is burdening you. There is nothing too big or too small for God. Scripture tells us He wants us to bring everything to Him in prayer. DESCRIPTION:ACHEV has invited Rebecca Kocsis to speak to ACHEV and the greater homeschool community in Ventura. Please come\, invite your friends\, and be prepared for a lovely evening of encouragement with Rebecca. A love offering will be taken to help cover Rebecca’s travel expenses. \n\nRebecca’s talk: Making the Grade – Does God really expect us to be perfect because we homeschool? Rather\, as home educators\, we often expect perfection from ourselves. There’s nothing wrong with high expectations. But how do we handle falling short of them? Do we take it to the cross? Or do we give ourselves a big fat F? Let’s take a look at this from a Biblical perspective.\n\nRebecca Kocsis and her beloved\, Ed\, homeschooled all five of their children\, graduating their youngest in 2006 from their homeschool. They are now the proud grandparents of an ever-growing tribe of energetic boys and girls (11 to date) who are their greatest delight. Rebecca served for 15 years as a PSP administrator and for several years on CHEA’s Regional Advisory Board. In addition to serving on CHEA’s board of directors\, she currently serves as Support Network Director and General Manager. She is the author of the devotional booklet Let Not Your Feathers Be Ruffled.

Some of you who have been in ACHEV for a few years may remember I had to pretty much drop everything to recover from a women’s health issue from which I honestly had no idea if I could recover. Now that I am on the other side of the problem\, I am ready to share my story and what I learned from it both physically and spiritually. I pray you may learn something from my experience. I hope others will also share experiences and wisdom as well. We have much to learn from each other. \nWhether everything is going fantastic for you in the women’s health department\, or if you feel like everything is falling apart\, or somewhere in the middle\, please come. For her first English Country Dance formal\, I braided my daughter’s very long hair into a Dutch crown with accent braids. She is grown and I miss braiding her hair. If you would like to learn or share what you know\, I’d love to have you. Bring your own hairbrush\, comb\, hairbands and a few bobby pins. If we need extra help\, we can watch some YouTube instructions. I look forward to braiding your hair! \nThis could be a great chance to try out some up-do ideas before the Of Winters Past ECD Formal coming up January 26. \nAdded bonus – This might be a great night to bring dresses or gowns we have for loan. I have a few my daughter outgrew that I keep on hand to loan. Maybe we can even get some of our costumes ready for the dance. DESCRIPTION:Are you interested in homeschooling your teens\, but worried about what the requirements are? Does the idea of high school at home seem a little scary? Come get encouragement\, guidance\, and facts about home education through high school at our High School Information Meeting.  You will leave this meeting armed with resources\, with a LOT of information\, and – hopefully – feeling encouraged about the way forward!\n\nThere is no need to fear homeschooling through high school – it can actually be the happiest years of home education as your students grow up into really interesting people! Bring your questions. If we don’t know the answers\, we will work to find out. This is for parents of students from about 7th grade all the way through 12th grade.
