DESCRIPTION:What: ACHEV Beach Day\, tots to teens!  ACHEV Grads welcome.  The little kids like to play in the sand\, boogie board close to shore\, the older kids boogie board\, body surf\, dig holes and play sports on the sand.  We have a great time\, so please join us for fun\, fellowship\, and checking P.E. off your list =) \nWhere: Beach North of Emma Wood and just south of Solimar and South of Mondos.  It’s called Summer’s Beach – park for free along the highway.  Take the California State Beaches exit off the 101 fwy.   https://maps.apple.com/place?ll=34.306528\,-119.351567&q=Marked%20Location&_ext=EiQpJzQpTzwnQUAxBaWsEYDWXcA5JzQpTzwnQUBBBaWsEYDWXcA%3D&t=h  That is the marked location where we will meet.  There is a handicap ramp to take you down to the beach and a porta potty street side.  There should be a good deal of parking. \nHow to Find Us: Come Down the handicap ramp\, and if you are facing the water\, turn left and we will be close by on the left hand side (that’s the plan anyways).  You can look for my red SUV along the highway.  It’s a Subaru Ascent with a roof rack. \nDirections: The address at the marked location is 2866-2868 Pacific Coast Highway.  Take the California State Beaches exit off the 101 fwy. \nTide Forecast: https://www.surf-forecast.com/breaks/Solimar-Reef/tides/latest \nLet me know if you plan to come so we can look out for you.  Can’t wait to see you there! DESCRIPTION:ACHEV activities\, events\, and field trips are for ACHEV students unless otherwise noted. \n \nHigh Schoolers grab a blanket and join us for a fun bonfire night at the beach! No cost to attend but please bring a snack\, dessert\, or drink to share. Feel free to bring your favorite games to play with the group. \nParents you are welcomed to stay but please leave younger siblings at home as this is a special event for 9-12th grade only. Parking is $2/hour. DESCRIPTION:Calling all master builders! Join us for a sandcastle showdown. Bring your creativity and get ready to dig in the sand. Sign up with your team or put your name down to be assigned a team and make new friends! 🙂 \nSIGN UP! \nPlease read over this section with your student so they understand the judging criteria and rules. \nSandcastle competition rules: \n\nBuilding time will start at 10AM and end at 11:15AM. If you are early you may set up your equipment but may not begin any work. If you are late\, you can still get to work but will not get any extra time.\nSand & water only: The structure must be built using only sand and water. No additives. Sticks and rocks may not be used internally to hold structure up.\nNatural decorations ONLY: You may decorate with items naturally found on a beach. You may scavenger ahead of time and bring beach items into competition. So\, get out there and start collecting 🙂  (No glitter\, paint\, toys\, glass\, trash etc.)\nTools: Molds and forms OK. buckets\, bowls\, shovels\, hand tools\, measuring spoons etc. please remove molds and forms before judging begins.\nYou may not vote for your own castle.\nDeep holes dug for water or sand must be completely filled in before leaving the beach.\n\nHow Judging will work: \nEvery person present will be given three different colored popsicle sticks. When time runs out you will hand the popsicle stick to your favorite castles based on creativity\, difficulty\, and most detailed. \nRed = creativity\nIs it unique? Is there a theme?\nBlue = difficulty\nWas this really hard to build? Is it super tall?\nGreen = most detailed\nAre there windows\, bridges\, a lot of decoration? \nThe group with the most amount of one color will win that category.
