SUMMARY:Fine Arts Festival
DESCRIPTION:ACHEV activities\, events\, and field trips are for ACHEV students unless otherwise noted. \nIt’s time again for the ACHEV Fine Arts Festival!  This year it will be held at 6:00 PM on Saturday\, April 18th  at Temple Avenue Baptist Church in Camarillo.  The Arts Festival is a wonderful time for our students to share their God-given talents.  This is a non-judged activity\, designed to appreciate the talents of our ACHEV homeschool community.  Due to time constraints\, we may need to limit the number of activities per person (i.e.\, 2 solo events) depending on how many entries we receive. \nWe’ve had an amazing response in the past with such creative entries as comedic skits\, dance\, bands\, mime\, poetry reading\, excerpts from plays\, films\, instrumental solos (piano\, guitar\, harp\, violin…)\, vocal solos\, photography\, drawings\, sewing\, knitting\, models and more.  This is a great opportunity to recognize and encourage the hard work that goes into developing these life-enriching skills. \nWe ask that all performing and visual arts be appropriate for families with young children and glorifying to God. When our families come together as a group\, we hope to create an atmosphere that allows for consideration and grace. \nValues we trust every ACHEV family to embrace are: \n\nArtist/performer – Personal opinions and freedoms can and should at times be humbly set aside temporarily for the sake of the community. A good rule of thumb is if you have any concern it might offend\, chose something safer to perform/create/wear. Remember all ages may be present\, and ask yourself\, “Will it honor God?”\, and “Will it bless those who hear and see?”\nAudience – There is a time and place to graciously make allowances for the differing opinions about what is appropriate to perform/create/wear. Since this event serves our entire membership\, we can expect our diverse community to be just that: diverse. That is part of the beauty of community. We offer benefit of the doubt that each participant sincerely desires to honor God and bless those who hear and see.\n\n_____________________________________________________________________________________ \nWho Can Participate: This is an ACHEV Event for ACHEV students to showcase their talents.   ACHEV students of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate.  If an ACHEV student would like to perform in an ensemble or needs accompaniment for a performance\, accompaniments or other members of an ensemble can be a parent\, adult sibling\, instructor\, or students in other educational settings.   We encourage you to invite all your friends and family to come support and encourage our students in the audience. \nPlease fill out your submission forms no later than Thursday April 2nd.  There is a good deal of planning that needs to be done ahead of the event to coordinate all the performances\, create and print the program\, etc.  If you can submit your form earlier\, that is very helpful.  We will not be accepting submissions after the deadline.  You must submit a separate form for each piece of artwork and each performance.  Visual Arts need to be dropped off no later than Monday\, April 5 (form is still required by Apr 2). \nTo make this event happen\, we need a parent from every family to volunteer.  We are asking every family to bring a plate of cookies/finger-snacks to share AND to volunteer for one of the jobs listed in the Google Form linked below.  We will contact you before the festival to let you know what your job will be.  Thank you for all of your help! \nPlease fill out the volunteer form as soon as you can – even if you do not have your art submissions figured out yet.  If you are going to participate\, go ahead and fill it out now.  We have some important jobs that need to be filled soon \,and I need to know how much participation we will have in this event\, and having these things figured out can’t wait until the deadline.  Thank you so much for understanding! \nClick on the forms below to sign up!\nVolunteer Form (required for all families) \nVisual Arts Entry Form \nPerforming Arts Entry Form \nPlease drop off your fine art no later than Monday April 5. \nCamarillo Art Drop Off: \nTBD \nVentura Art Drop Off:   \nTBD \nPlease help us make the fine arts presentation beautiful and honor your child’s artwork by putting it in a frame.  \nYou can borrow a frame from something else in your house\, buy used from the thrift store\, or reach out on ACHEV members Facebook page or Band and ask to borrow something.  If it is a stretched canvas\, a frame is not needed.  Examples below of a stretched canvas (left) and framed crayon drawing (right).   \n \nThese are the first things my kids ever submitted in the fine arts festival!  We want to represent all ages and abilities! \n

So please feel free to talk with leadership about any aspect of any ACHEV event or activity. Your input is valuable and appreciated. \n_______________________________________________________________________________________ \n\nAll ages of children are encouraged to submit artwork and/or perform.  We want to see what even the youngest members of our group are creating!  Parents are welcome to perform and/or display fine art as well!  We would really like to see 2 or 3 parents show off one of their talents as an encouragement for the students. \nEach family should bring a finger food to share for our intermission period. \n\nWe are using Google Forms again this year.  Let us know if you have any questions about filling them out.    You will receive an email copy of the form you submitted and the email will contain a link allowing you to edit your response if need be.  You will not be able to edit your response without this link\, so save this email.  If you make a mistake we can also delete the old form and you can submit it again.  It does not take long to fill out.  Please email bonnieadair@verizon.net if you have any trouble accessing or filling out these forms.  I am happy to help! \nSubmission forms are due by Friday April 10th and artwork is due at a drop off location by Saturday April 11th.  Please plan ahead as we need to stick firmly to the submission deadlines and won’t be accepting late entries.  The organizers have a lot of work to do to prepare for this event and  we need the help of the parents to make everything run as smoothly as possible.  Thank you for understanding. \nPerforming Arts Submission Form (limit 2 per student\, not counting accompaniment performances): https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfocGZs_oQe7mi_IkIl9o4G6_lOBbTWk8apbFzIlZAVHXxnXA/viewform?usp=sf_link \nVisual Arts Submission Form (limit 3 per student): https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdh7TOsTCusSR7_62SnFH0TzE1vqB8vf4M4swPvKHGalNJv1w/viewform?usp=sf_link \nIf you plan to participate in this event\, please do not delay in filling out the form below to let us know how you would like to help.  We need to have some helpers in place long before the submission deadlines.  So\, even if you haven’t filled out the forms for your kids’ art and performances\, please still go ahead and fill out the volunteer form.  One job in particular that we would like to have filled early is someone to host/organize an “after party” for the families after the event where we can eat some food and fellowship\, and maybe have games or activities.  This would be geared towards older kids since it will be late in the evening\, but all ages are welcome. \nVolunteer Job Sign Up: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdOWf9oJL7HT4mVm3m9avYKLx9NaT_uG_gAvZNDnt2MY4MMqA/viewform?usp=sf_lin

We offer benefit of the doubt that each participant sincerely desires to honor God and bless those who hear and see. \n\n\nWe also believe constructive feedback is important. So please feel free to talk with leadership about any aspect of any ACHEV event or activity. Your input is valuable and appreciated. \n____________________________________________________________________________________________ \n\nParents are welcome to perform and/or display fine art as well!  We would really like to see 2 or 3 parents show off one of their talents as an encouragement for the students. \n\nWe are using Google Forms again this year.  Let us know if you have any questions about filling them out.  At the end of the form\, you can select to have a copy emailed to you.  If you choose to have a copy of your response emailed to you\, the email will contain a link allowing you to edit your response if need be.  You may not be able to edit your response without this link.  If you make a mistake we can also delete the old form and you can submit it again.  It does not take long to fill out. \nPlease fill out your submission forms no later than Friday\, April 26th.  We will not be accepting submissions after the deadline.  Please submit a separate form for each piece of artwork and each performance. \nVisual: \nhttps://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfapEp4OqSyj4sf32wRqAIBi4CD3lg_2CaUPG2Xqdr86li9RA/viewform \nPerforming: \nhttps://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSechrMXIEvezk2j-n9KjjoTVhwt6Hq3FYWFxk783yA4TtmSXA/viewform \nPlease drop off your fine art no later than Friday\, April 26th.\nCamarillo Art Drop Off: \nBonnie Adair \n174 Granada St\, Camarillo\, CA 93010 \nbonnieadair@verizon.net\, \n805-504-6457 \n  \nVentura Art Drop Off: \nAmy Tromans \n5265 Clemson Street\, Ventura\, CA 93003 \ndulceamymango@gmail.com \n805-701-1410 \n\nTo make this event happen\, we need all parents to volunteer.  We are asking every family to bring a plate of cookies/finger-snack to share AND to volunteer for one of  the jobs listed in the Google Form linked below.  We will contact you before the festival to let you know what your job will be.  Please select your top three choices.
