DESCRIPTION:Limited space! If you are interested and would like to give Sacred Harp a try\, please email Allyson at allysonplumberg@gmail.com\n  \n\n  \nACHEV Mom\, Allyson Plumberg\, is leading monthly Sacred Harp singings at her home in Camarillo. Sacred Harp is a form of a cappella worship music that uses “shape notes”\, and has its roots in the early American church. The music has a distinctively raw style and sound. Check out this brief intro video to Sacred Harp music. \nGenerous donors from the Sacred Harp community gifted Allyson with 16 copies of the new 2025 Sacred Harp book for the purpose of growing Sacred Harp music within her homeschool community! \nNo previous music ability necessary! You are welcome to come try it out if you’re on the fence. Plan on committing to the group for the year if you want to participate beyond that. \n  \nWhat: About an hour of basic instruction reading shape notes and singing from the Sacred Harp. Allyson will help break down the parts as needed. We will review songs from previous months\, learn a new song or two each session—and most importantly—enjoy worshiping together! \nOptional: After singing\, we can walk over to the Pleasant Valley Soccer Field park (2 min walk) and let the kids play for a bit afterwards. Looking at about 1.5 hrs total\, including park time. \nWho: ACHEV Members of all ages (moms and dads too)! We have toys for little ones who may not be ready to sing yet. \nWhen: We meet on the 2nd Monday of every month at 9:30 am. If you are interested and would like to give Sacred Harp a try\, please email Allyson at allysonplumberg@gmail.com\n  \n\n  \nACHEV Mom\, Allyson Plumberg\, is leading monthly Sacred Harp singings at her home in Camarillo. Sacred Harp is a form of a cappella worship music that uses “shape notes”\, and has its roots in the early American church. The music has a distinctively raw style and sound. Check out this brief intro video to Sacred Harp music. \nGenerous donors from the Sacred Harp community gifted Allyson with 16 copies of the new 2025 Sacred Harp book for the purpose of growing Sacred Harp music within her homeschool community! \nNo previous music ability necessary! You are welcome to come try it out if you’re on the fence. Plan on committing to the group for the year if you want to participate beyond that. \n  \nWhat: About an hour of basic instruction reading shape notes and singing from the Sacred Harp. Allyson will help break down the parts as needed. We will review songs from previous months\, learn a new song or two each session—and most importantly—enjoy worshiping together! \nOptional: After singing\, we can walk over to the Pleasant Valley Soccer Field park (2 min walk) and let the kids play for a bit afterwards. Looking at about 1.5 hrs total\, including park time. \nWho: ACHEV Members of all ages (moms and dads too)! DESCRIPTION:What: We are gathering together to teach our children to work as a team\, develop strength\, perseverance\, good sportsmanship and friendships through physical activity. We start with a warm up exercise routine that will help the children build strength and balance.  It is really fun to see how much they improve over the school year.  After the warm up\, we do structured activities for about 45 minutes.  Afterwards we have optional free play. \nSome examples of things we have done in the past: Relay races\, obstacle courses\, “Toxic River”\, “Barbarians”\, “Steal the Bacon”\, crab soccer\, jump rope\, and four-square.  We have also spent time playing games and doing drills to work on specific skills such as improving reaction time\, learning how to pass a volleyball\, hand-eye coordination\, etc. \nParents take turns organizing/planning/leading the activities.  If you don’t feel equipped to take that on\, you will not be alone\, I will help you through it.  I can send you ideas and instructions and come alongside you as you lead the activity.  This is not a drop off class.  Parents will be supervising and assisting their children as needed. \nWho: ACHEV members Pk-12 years.   This co-op can include all ages.  We currently have a group of elementary students formed and we have room for lots more\, so please consider joining us.  We also have a small group of preschoolers and we are planning special activities for a separate preschool group at the same time.  If you have high school students\, we can absolutely coordinate something structured for them.  It could be a fitness class\, a sport\, field games\, or maybe even a running group – it’s a big park with not too much traffic and good sidewalks. \nThis co-op aims to be a commitment for the school year as opposed to a “drop-in” program.  If you’re curious\, but would like to try it out first\, please feel free to come for a couple sessions and see if it’s something you can commit to for the rest of the year.  We also invite students to join the group at any time in the year.   \nThe dates for the whole school year are printed below and all dates are also on the ACHEV calendar\, all are on Friday mornings.  We will meet at Pitts Ranch Park  (Camarillo).   Please email or text Bonnie Adair 805-504-6457 bonnieadair@verizon.net if you are interested in joining us.   We need to know how many children will be present in order to help with activity planning.  Feel free to reach out with any questions. \nSept 18 \nOctober 2\, 16\, 30 \nNovember 13 \nDecember 4\, 11 \nJanuary 15\, 29 \nFebruary 12\, 26 \nMarch 12\, 19 \nApril 2\, 16 \nMay 7\, 21

SUMMARY:Sacred Harp Singing
DESCRIPTION:Limited space! If you are interested and would like to give Sacred Harp a try\, please email Allyson at allysonplumberg@gmail.com\n  \n\n  \nACHEV Mom\, Allyson Plumberg\, is leading monthly Sacred Harp singings at her home in Camarillo. Sacred Harp is a form of a cappella worship music that uses “shape notes”\, and has its roots in the early American church. The music has a distinctively raw style and sound. Check out this brief intro video to Sacred Harp music. \nGenerous donors from the Sacred Harp community gifted Allyson with 16 copies of the new 2025 Sacred Harp book for the purpose of growing Sacred Harp music within her homeschool community! \nNo previous music ability necessary! You are welcome to come try it out if you’re on the fence. Plan on committing to the group for the year if you want to participate beyond that. \n  \nWhat: About an hour of basic instruction reading shape notes and singing from the Sacred Harp. Allyson will help break down the parts as needed. We will review songs from previous months\, learn a new song or two each session—and most importantly—enjoy worshiping together! \nOptional: After singing\, we can walk over to the Pleasant Valley Soccer Field park (2 min walk) and let the kids play for a bit afterwards. Looking at about 1.5 hrs total\, including park time. \nWho: ACHEV Members of all ages (moms and dads too)! We have toys for little ones who may not be ready to sing yet. \nWhen: We meet on the 2nd Monday of every month at 9:30 am.
