CANCELED (Leonis Adobe)

October 26, 2021 @ 9:15 am - 11:30 am

We are sorry to report this field trip has been canceled.

The Chumash tour is a hands-on, interactive learning experience in our Calabasas Creek Park. Students will experience aspects of Chumash life and gain an understanding of what it was like to grow up as a Chumash Native American in California. The program consists of a 5-station tour which includes the story telling of Chumash myths and legends inside an ‘ap (Chumash dwelling), edible and medicinal plant identification along Calabasas Creek, as well as discussions on the traditional methods of hunting, gathering and fishing. The students will participate in a game of skill that village children would have played, and create a Chumash inspired necklace using natural materials. These are among the program activities.

The experience is focused on 3rd grade and up. RSVP required.
