*Cancelled*Guided Bird Hike Field Trip at Camarillo Grove Park
March 16, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
**update 3/12/2020**I am sorry to say that the Pleasant Valley Parks & Rec Department has cancelled our Bird Hike field trip due to the rain that is expected on Monday. I will try to reschedule soon and let you know. Please email me back and let me know if you want me to refund your money right away, or if I should hold onto until it is rescheduled.
What: Meet some special birds, including those arriving to nest, those about to leave after a warm winter stay, as well as year round residents. Come to Camarillo Grove and explore the birds in this area. We will have a guided hike led by David Torfeh, one of their Outdoor Educators.
Who: This field trip is great for all ages. Preschoolers should be able to do this hike, but you will need to be prepared to “wear” your baby or toddler. I don’t recommend bringing your stroller.
Time: Please arrive by 9:45 and assemble at the Nature Center.
Cost: $5 per child ages 3+. Parents are free. The parking fee will be waived for our group, so you do not need to pay at the entrance for parking. For this field trip, I need to make payment at least one week in advance.
I need all payments for this field trip no later than Sunday March 8th.
- You can send me payment via paypal https://paypal.me/bonniemaeadair?locale.x=en_US
- Mail or drop off cash or check to Bonnie Adair, 174 Granada Street, Camarillo, CA 93010
- Hand me check or cash next time I see you at the park or on a field trip (before March 8th)
The hike is scheduled from 10-11:30. Afterwards, we will meet at the playground and eat lunch. During lunch, we will read aloud a story about birds.
After lunch, we will make some bird art! We will have directed art for older elementary & teens, directed art for younger elementary, and a directed craft for the little ones. Elementary – Sr. High students should bring a sketch pad or clip board and paper and pencils/colored pencils, and eraser. We will bring some extra paper and colored pencils if you are not able to bring these items. All craft supplies for the little ones will be supplied.
What to Bring:
- Hats, water, sunscreen, comfortable clothing & sturdy closed-toe shoes
- You may want to bring your own binoculars, but they will have a some available to borrow.
- Nature Journal (optional)
- Picnic lunch to leave in the car if you will be joining us for art & play after the hike
- Dogs are welcome on the hike if they are leashed
