Impressionist Art Tour at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art
January 6 @ 10:15 am - 11:15 am
ACHEV activities, events, and field trips are for ACHEV students unless otherwise noted
Would you like to view Impressionist masterpieces by Monet, van Gogh, Gauguin, Matisse, and Morisot?

The Santa Barbara Museum of Art is hosting two major exhibitions of Impressionist and 19th Century art, with loaned pieces from the Dallas Museum of Art. This is going to be a hugely popular and influential exhibition!
Admission is typically $21 for kids 6 yrs+, and $30 for adults, but this tour is going to be FREE for many of us (see below).
What: A 45-minute docent-led tour. Students will explore how these once-radical Impressionist artists reshaped modern art through guided discussions and close looking.
Who: ACHEV members ages 7 yrs through high school. Parent chaperones are required (one chaperone per five students). Parent chaperones must be willing to enforce the museum’s etiquette standards with the students in their tour group (see below).
- The total number of required parent chaperones is subject to the number of students signed up.
- Due to high interest in this event, we are currently limiting sign ups to one parent chaperone per family.
- Even if you sign up as a parent chaperone, your ability to participate ultimately depends on our student numbers. More students = more parent chaperones.
- If you would like a second parent to chaperone, please add them to the WAITLIST. Allyson will let you know if there is space to participate.
Cost: Free admission for up to 30 students. A maximum of six parent chaperones (free admission) will be required if all 30 students attend. An additional six parents may also attend the tour at regular admission ($30 per adult).
When: Tuesday January 6th
- 10:15a Gather at the Park Entrance of the Museum, in the rear of the building.
- 10:30a-11:15a Docent-led tour of the special exhibits.
- 11:15a After the tour, families are free to explore the collections on their own (parents will be responsible for supervising their own students).
Where: Santa Barbara Museum of Art: 1130 State Street, Santa Barbara, CA, 93101. Paid parking is available throughout downtown Santa Barbara; please be prepared to leave enough time to pay and walk to the museum.
