Columbus Day Field Trip to the Channel Islands Maritime Museum
October 14 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
It’s Columbus Day! I can’t think of a better way to teach the kids about Columbus Day than with a docent led educational program at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum in Oxnard. The docents here are very knowledgeable and eager to answer questions. There is so much to see and do here and it is great for all ages. They will take us through 4 different stations and the Age of Exploration will be emphasized. We’ll learn about explorers, navigation & timekeeping, parts of a ship, signals, see their models of Columbus’ the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria, and a lot more.
Who: ACHEV Members, all ages.
Cost: $200 for our group. We’ll divide the cost evenly between everyone age 5+ . If we have 20 people age 5 and up, it will be $10 per person. Parking is free.
Other: There is a picnic area in front of the museum with an area to play on a pretend tall ship. So bring your lunches and have a picnic with us out front after our tour. After lunch, you are free to go back inside and enjoy the museum as long as you want. There are also a couple of parks nearby and the beach is walking distance.
